Can't blame them to be honest!
When you take out car insurance you are asked to tell them about any convictions etc...so they can access what degree of risk you may be and nobody complains about disclosing that! Same with home insurance you could have been done for insurance fraud etc...and therefore represent a high degree of risk to them as insurers!
