Smile Escort 1996 Blower Problem

Hi, First time on here so perhaps someone may be able to help.
Ford Escort 1996 1800 Ghia.
Problem
Heater Blower inside car stopped working.

No power from either end of fuse 20 (25amp) on front of box. (Ignition on).

put power to output fuse and it works.
Put power to switch in car and it works.
A live wire should come from fuse to the switch (which is dead )
Worked on/off after test several times but then stopped again. Haynes manual says fuse goes to IGNITION RELAY. Possibly faulty.
Where is it ?? On the fuse board or elsewhere ?
Also, quick fix
Replaced front windscreen does not have a heated screen so switch for heated windscreen redundant. Is it ok to take power feed from heated front screen switch to the Blower switch which would fix the problem if i cant replace Ignition relay.

Appreciate any help/suggestions. Thanks

Sounds like classic fuse box failure

I sometimes face problems with my blower and electrical devices, but they are usually minor and easily solved.

Agree with GVK. Fusebox on its way out. Thankfully easily swappable, just try get the same code, or worst case from a higher spec model than what you have

Thanks for that. My previous 1996 Escort 1600 GL went to scrap cos I couldn’t replace the fuse board. Couldn’t find one so i am not optimistic about getting a replacement for 1996 1800 Ghia 5 years on from the 1600 GL.

just put a small fuse box next to the main one you can get ones that hold as little as half a dozen fuses and wire it direct to your blower switch/circuit. if you dont want it to be seen hide it inside the car. if you cant do this yourself an auto electrician wouldnt charge much to do this. the chap i use quoted me five hundred to change my saff fuse box . i also have a smaller fuse box as well hidden away for the rad fan headlights and a few other things

more than likely just a dry solder joint on the back of the fuse box circuit board Just remove and resolder the joints again,or as Ray said put another separate fuse in
