Default Rs Turbo clutch cable / billet quadrant PLEASE HELP

Hi

fitted a billet quadrant to my series 1 rs turbo .

AP Clutch cover

messed about with the standard pedal to get it to work.

now when I push the clutch pedal all the way down to the floor it get a CLUNK on the last inch .. like maybe the cover plate fingers are slipping off the release bearing ?! I fitted the old release bearing that was being used on the standard cover plate.

really annoying as I can’t drive it , it’s like it snaps on / clunks when I raise my foot .

ie. Not smooth

standard clutch arm

any thoughts ? The cable seems quite easy to get onto the arm as well

please help if you can.

thank you

Maybe it is over travelling?
My sons fiesta with a Helix felt weird like that. Can’t remember what he changed.
Try a block underneath the pedal to see if it stops it and if you can still select gears.

Hi thanks for the reply .
think I’ve found it. The pedal arm just slightly catches the bracket under the dash as it travels the last inch or two . Which makes the sound . I’ll just grind it away, can’t be arsed to take the metal bar all out again. My spine won’t forgive me .

can’t seem to get reverse . It’s a ib5 box with a straight cut gear set using the original rs turbo gear selector .. the gears seem really close , think the guy I bought it off said it had a different gate inside .. was a few years ago now ..as far as I know there’s no push down reverse . My other rs doesn’t have push down reverse?

Excellent and you have jogged my memory. My sons issues was the same as yours…something catching in the pedal box area.
I’ve just changed my clutch for something less heavy duty as like you my spine can’t take another snapped cable.

Try putting the box in reverse then the linkage in reverse then connecting them, maybe worth a try.

Good luck.

Ib5 on standard linkage should be easy to find all gears mate inusually link it up in neutral get 4th and then re align it and it's spot on.

Thanks again guys I’ll get under it and have a play.
IIRC he said something about the gate in the box has the return spring so the gear lever should self centre in neutral

Standard in all, even the very earliest, ib5 boxes

I actually machined up a two piece pedal box bar so it’s effectively in two half’s that screws together in place with a bolt through it as well, means the quadrant can be changed without taking the whole lot out etc.
forgot that

If you can get 5th you should be able to get reverse. When I had issues with mine that’s what I couldn’t get at first but didn’t take much to realign. As said put it in neutral and line it up and it should be fine
