Default Driving a left hand drive car in Poland.

I have recently come back from a trip to Poland where I had a left hand drive hire car in which I did over 1500Kms in 4 days. I found the driving horrendous and could not get my head around it!! what do other people think about driving on the other side of the road in Europe?

I've been to the Nurburgring quite a few times and find it ok, the worse thing is on back roads when on coming vehicles are in the middle of the road! Not sure which side to take lol

I drive abroad regularly but always get an auto as changing gear doesn’t feel right 🤣🤣 I still find myself looking to the left for the rear view mirror.

I drove a Porsche GT 3 in Germany once and it was LHD.

I struggled with the gears tbh, the owner was very understanding thankfully.

The Motorways are superb in Poland, very smooth and no potholes but on small country roads I found it off putting when big trucks are coming towards you from the opposite direction and it seemed they were really close to middle of the road and there was not enough space. Roundabouts took a bit of getting used to going the opposite way!! When we were there visiting relatives I asked a couple of them how did they think they would be driving on the left in the UK and they said for them it would be difficult. I guess it is what you are used to.

Driving on the other side of the road is dangerous and therefore prohibited.

The first miles on british roads were challenging. After one day I got used to it... worked quite well. After three weeks it again took some time to get used to the right side of the road. Which is the right side.

I remember when I first went to Germany in 2000, it was dark when we got to France and thick fog! Never gripped the steeering wheel as hard ever before!

I was that nervous that the guy waving us off the ferry was making flashy hand gestures as I had no lights on lol

To me it seemed completely un-natural, I have driven in France and Spain before but in an English right hand drive car which was much easier.Getting in to the "passenger" side with the steering wheel and gear lever on the left was weird.

I've driven a few left hand drive cars in england. Now that's a bit of an experience too.
