Default Fuel pressure sensor

Hi guys, I’m new here. Just bought a sapphire 4x4 cosworth with a terrible running issue, (car runs lumpy, running on 3 type sensation, cylinder 3 seems to be the rough point) after eliminating the obvious (plugs, leads, dizzy, rotor, timing), I’m now looking to replace the Fuel pressure sensor, only to find they are extinct. I’ve seen a couple of after market items but which one do I buy? The car is standard and not modified (not a blue hose or lowering spring in sight) and I want to keep it that way, so something as close to stock as possible.
Thank you in advance.

If it’s just one cylinder it could be the injector is sticking. I sent all mine off for cleaning a year or two back and I think it was about Ł30 from memory. You could try switching that injector around and see if the problem moves cylinders.

Also, check for fuel in the vacuum pipe at the top of the regulator. If there is any fuel in there it needs replacing. Also the regulated pressure in the fuel rail should be 3.5 bar for into.

Thank you Jim, you’re quite right, it was the fuel regulator at fault, it was throwing lots of fuel down the vacuum pipe and into the manifold! I’ve fitted a new (aftermarket as that’s all I could find) regulator and it runs well now, but it now idles very high, 2000 rpm. Prior to diagnosing it as fuel regulator, I thought It might have been the iscv so I took that out to clean and lube it, I’m wondering if my high idle has something to do with that…

Seems like your on the rite track, I spent a few months trying to sort my issues....in the end I gave in and got it booked into NMS as there 5mins away.

Depending where you are I guess a tune and check over would have it purring again.

Chances are its probably not been looked at for a fair while?

There are some o/e looking fpr out there now....I must call into Ggr and get one.
