best paint for underneath iron work wish bones etc
with the amount of restos ive whatched on here i would love to no what paint has stayed the test of time im looking at restos at the mow going to 2007. alot of peeps have painted there gear box casings and cylinder heads with silver paint also diffs i just cant see that staying there as a car sprayer i no about refinishing how the fuk would key a surface like a cylinder head in all the nooks and crannys especialy things that get hot and cold quick. vapour blasting maybe not seen anyone keying up a cylinder head to key the surface for painting with that method. im not nocking it i would love to spray my cylinder head silver and the likes but if it starts cracking and coming of what a fukin mess your left with i just cant see it staying there i might be wrong. whats the best paint and method for swinging arms anti roll bar hubs. we all no about powder coating sand blasted first they usually use a zinc primmer then the black powder coat. is there a tryed and tested do it your self at home job. i painted my rear arms on my saff ten years ago i ground all the paint of and put a rust stabiliser on them first the stuff that turns purple. i used a metal primmer and a gloss black both made by fortress ive only seen it in b&q its stayed the test of time its nearly as good as when it was first done it no bubling no rusting. now i need to do my front hubs anti roll bar things like that but i wont be able to prep them as good as there not as flat as the rear arms. what have other peeps done that stayed the test of time what products did you use withought powder coating
I had the hubs blasted then cleaned them up with everything from a flap wheel on a grinder to a dremmel
I sprayed it on, did one coat and let it completely dry before sanding it all down so no marks showed and then gave it another coat followed by 2 pack satin black.
Car has yet to see the road so they still look mint
There used to be an online magazine article where a classic car mag compared all types of paint over several years and Epoxy Mastic came out best.

thanks ill try read the mag thats intresting whens the v8 on the road it looks complete apart from the o/s front wheel lol. the gold heat sheild looks great in gold have you got an engine management system for it is it running. the key to the hubs is sand blasting withought a dbout anything left on stuff like that just remains active and comes back

V8 should be running this year, sorting out radiator and heater plumbing at the moment, then I'll have finish off fuel system and wire up the Emerald K6+ engine management and turn the key
