Default Cooling fan always ON

Hi guys,

I noticed my fans are going on just after 5 minutes my car started, both fans are running low speed all the time.
I just got the car a few months ago and noticed temperature on the dashboard stays pretty low all the time, like the car never warms up, It is situated more or less at the quarter of the screen temperature, is it normal operating on the RS? sometimes cars are different, I thought it should be in the middle.

Anybody got a picture of sensor level on dashboard at normal temperature?

FYI: timing belt, hoses, thermostat and cooling liquid are new

Thanks for your answers

Cheers. Roland

The fans should not be on, possibly a faulty fan switch.

The Escos has a two speed fan system, I am not that familiar with it but will be fairly basic, probably a low speed and high speed relay.

The gauge sounds about right, mine sits near the bottom and at the most in the middle in hotter weather.

You really need an IR thermometer to accurately gauge the temperature.

Hi Martin, thanks again for your reply.
I assume you speak about the switch on the radiator that quicks in at a certain temperature right?
I will check the relay that might be locked on ON position

Correct, if the fan is on permanently, then it could be either a jammed relay or a faulty switch.

The easiest thing to do is disconnect the switch and see if they stop, if they do then the switch is faulty, otherwise it's the relay.
