Default adding side skirts whats the best option?

Fitting zetec s bumpers and side skirts and spoilers to my fiesta mk5 at the moment need some advise on best way to fit the side skirts

I have been told 3 options by various folks....

self tapping screws...sills are quite old and been underseal by myself (not rotted) but nervous make holes in them as could cause them to rot as the car is very old.
3m tape lol? is this really a valid option?
tiger seal to glue them on....? would this cause issues on MOT and in the future if they needed taking off?

another question is do i need to let my insurance know before adding these side skirts and different bumpers? (i assume i do and if so what problems could i face?) starting with the spoiler at the moment as smallest part to paint. will post photos soon.

btw this just a cheap diy upgrade to my car budget low im spray painting all bumpers myself not looking for it to be a master piece but bit better then it is now

Of those, I'd use tigerseal. I hate it when people use self tappers, I've even seen people use wood screws ffs.

If it were me tho, I'd fit rivnuts into the sills so you could secure it properly and remove without having to cut/rebond everytime. But only if i had faith the sill had the strength (tho if it didnt have the strength to support a skirt then I'd be addressing that anyway).

Its a modification, therefore insurance should be made aware. Reality is its probably a 50/50 split on whether people inform their insurers on adding a kit, but is it worth having your insurance invalidated for the sake of a couple of bumpers and skirts if you do stack it, or get crashed into..

thanks the sills are fine but just the fact this car very easy and prone to rusting so thought bashing anything into the sill would worry me that it could cause holes and make it rot out. Tiger seal seems safest option in terms of not causing rust but yeah if i ever had to take them off (cant think what for though?) how easy is tiger seal to remove if needed? also would MOT want to remove them to check the sills are safe?

any clues on the insurance could they put the price up? when i told them about zetec s alloys it made no difference but alloy wheels are very common now.

MOT Testers aren't allowed to remove anything. The sills could be missing, but if the skirts were hiding that fact then the MOT tester could do very little.

No idea on insurance, its a game of pick a number out of a hat - just phone them up and ask? Shouldn't be much really, fitting OE stuff from higher models that isn't an engine isn't usually too bad

ANY modifications must be declared to your insurance, OE or not. It affects the cost of repairing your vehicle. Also it will give the company a clear reason to refuse to pay. You will also technically be uninsured therefore 6 points, impounded car and a fine.
Tell the insurance company and don’t be another one of the uninsured muppets out there.
