Default Aftermarket ECU/Tuning options for CVH 1.6 & 1.9L?

Hello.

I have a 1.9L CVH motor that came out of a 1990 US Escort GT. The motor was built with custom intake, porting/polish, cam, adjustable cam gear, rollers, forged internals, turbo, blah blah blah.

I believe it is similar to the Euro 1.6L CVH.

Was wondering what everyone is using to run these engines when they build them beyond the capabilities of the stock ECU/Carb???

BACKGROUND: The motor was built almost 2 years ago and I spent several months trying to get the darn thing to run using a Mega Squirt ECU. I have fuel, ignition, compression, etc. Have gone thru two Mega Squirt units, several coils, several distributors, wires, plugs, etc. I was unable to get the engine to fire and gave up. I would like to try once more to get this motor running before I move on. I have ran several other distributor equipped Ford engines over the years on a Mega Squirt, every single one was a pain to get running and trouble shoot. If I can not get this motor running, I was going to get a newer non-distributor version of the 1.9L, transfer some parts over and run it on a different ECU and just live with less HP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Adam

What Megasquirt setup you try? TFI or crank trigger?

uuuuh megasquirt. The cheapest option for an aftermarket ECU. But when you've done everything correct, the engine still will be running. CVHs are as easy/hard as other engines to run on an aftermarket ECU.

1. When cranking do you have a correct and stable CPS reading?
2. assumed 1 is working: When trying to start, do you have an ignition spark? If yes: ignition timing set???
3. assumed 1 AND 2 are ok: Are your injectors working?
4. assumed 1/2/3 are ok: Plugs wet or dry?
