Default 4x4 gearbox oil change

Can I replace the 4x4 gearbox oil with an ATF fluid or does it have to be an MT75 fluid?
Many thanks
Matthew

Forgot to mention the box has been rebuilt so I don’t want to put the wrong oil in it

When Bara did mine i asked him same and he did advise me that i can use Motul gear 300 both in box and transfer case or atf also in transfer case yet i did in past use atf fluid with no problem..Only what i noticed when using atf that is is a bit noisy..

you need to run the proper mt75 oil, think it's been discontinued by ford though as they just specify whatever they are selling now for boxes

the shifts are much improved with the correct oil

Is this a diy job on axel stands in the garage or up on a lift effort.

Need to check my level on the gearbox and top up if required.

Any pics of the plugs/level checking points.

sorry to hijack your post but it might help us both.
