Looks the same as the RD one, I used it for years and for the money can't fault it, worth changing the nylon bushes etc. whilst your at it.

No problem. I'm going to get another linkage as mine is a bit too sloppy in neutral, So I can buy this aswell and fit both at the same time.

thanks for the link. Im going to get a replacement linkage from Medway RS centre posted to me for £40, plus Ive found the quickshift is £10 cheaper buying via MLR website.

Should be a nice project for myself over the summer, as I plan on cleaning all back and painting it, and making the plastic look as new, and see about fitting new bolts/nuts.

Just a thought, when I take the linkage apart, what and will anything 'fly' out that I may lose? I dont fancy pulling it apart if theres lots of stuff that could cause a concern.

Linkage arrived, found out theres 2 springs mounted to some black bushes.

Also heard there is meant to be grease inside. Does this need replacing?

Na dont want the hassle of drilling holes in the chassis. welding up the old holes etc. Plus the hassle of sorting out a self return mod. i've already got a replacement linkage ready for the quickshift too.

Did you just leave the 2 holes as they were, or ram a screw in each of them and leave them like that?

Quickshift kit arrived today, didn't know you need a centre punch and a vice to fit it. Bugger. May just get my garage to fit it saves myself buying all the tools needed that I dont have.

I found even with a B&M which does away with the standard self return with its own version was still poor. I had the IB5 self return fitted inside the box and the gear throw is a dream now.

Garage has everything now, Quickshift, Linkage and bush kit. Its going to be rebuilt and modified for the quickshift.
Then once they have finished it i shall paint the gear shift rod and the 2 rods.

My friend came round and helped me fit the linkage to the car today. Throw is so much better, and no more sloppy stick.
It goes into gears all ok on the driveway with the engine off. But once the engine is running its a pain to find some of the gears, I've yet to find 3rd gear.

I took it out for a quick drive down a couple of roads(40MPH) and what a pain it is to drive, so looks like the linkage needs adjusting at the box end.

Sorted thanks to those who replied to my thread.

hi mark, i recently fitted an s2 rst gearbox to my fiesta and i am having the same trouble that you mention above ie not being able to find all gears when the engine is running, especially reverse, although 90% of the time with the engine off, i can find all gears nearly every time. did you get to the bottom of the problem? and did it just need adjusting at the 'box end?

thanks
james
