Default I think I should stop

I've been covering for someone I know doing local deliveries for a restaurant for the last week, last night I found out I dont think he's not coming back so they want me to do it....but!

Something made me phone my ins yesterday and they said I'm not covered for it, so if anything happened I'm fkd big time, and with a clean licence it's not worth it, no way!

I spoke to the manager, he said "just put the bags in your boot instead of inside" (it's pizzas) but it only takes one and quite often I get 2 and 3 when busy so they'd need to go on the back seat

He's not bothered, he just wants his stuff delivered and because I've been good and reliable, he wants me to stay but now I know I'm doing it with no bloody ins as it doesn't cover for business use, I'm VERY wary incase something happens

What should I do

I have seen police pull over delivery drivers before and they checked to make sure they had business insurance, I don't think it ended well, was one of them police programs on TV.
I don't think there would be much chance of getting pulled, but if you did, 6 points + a fine I think, Personally I wouldn't risk it.

It won't as you're driving without it, simple.....now I know this I'm bloody wary of it, I had to laugh though when the boss said "put the bag in the boot" so if you stopped there's nothing in the car

That's all very well well, but if I'm in a bump, they'll go through everything and also see the receipts I've got....basically I'd be fkd!

I know someone who had an accident, the police had a discussion about where he needed to get to as the car was totaled, he explained he was a plasterer going to a job, they checked his ins, no biz use. Written off car no pay out, 6 points blah blah blah

And what's stopping the police checking your boot, if they have suspicions your working with non valid insurance.. I would tell the boss to either pay for your insurance so your covered, or tell him you wont be doing it, he obviously doesn't care about licence.

That's what happened to the other guy, before I started, he was then using his sons car as his got totalled, not his fault but still happened, he's on holiday just now though, but the boss seems to think he won't be back. I wonder if he had proper ins, I'm tempted to tex and ask after me finding this out about mine

There's nothing to stop them, he won't, I know he doesn't care as he came out with "put them in the boot"

dont know what you plan to gain from this thread? as you know the answer.... continue to do it an risk the points, fine and maybe having the car seized, or stop.

the usual tricks of hiding the stuff or saying its your own meals wont wash as the cops hear that all the time. allthey have to do is see you at the take away a couple of times and they've got all they need, most places will have cctv outside the the building thats sure to have you on it

It's not worth it. If you're pulled, you're not covered full stop. Why risk it? If you get pulled and the worst case happens, you'll look back and think why did I do it.

it's not worth the risk, you can tell the boss politely or not, he's not going to care if you get fucked for it

The police are well aware delivery drivers generally don't have the right insurance, so you are an easy target.

Tell the boss man to pay up or fuck off

Used to do it myself and got pulled numerous times for random reasons, some never asked, some did and i just acted the fool.

Got away with it but t the end of the day it only takes 1 officer having a bad day!

How much do you earn delivering grub? £50 a night max? Now imagine getting 6 points, your insurance more than doubling & for the next 5 years, plus putting you halfway to a driving ban!!

You have to deliver a hell of a lot of grub to make that worthwhile!!!

I find it bizarre that you need business insurance.....it's just another get out Claus for the insurance, surely if you're insured then that's enough

I have just added 1500 business miles on to my insurance policy, only cost an extra £30 for the whole year. No reason not to have it imo.

Why is this even a thread? The OP knows they aren't insured to drive for business purposes, what is this thread meant to achieve?

The negative tone of your post.

But maybe you are always negative, so this may well be normal for you. In which case you won't be angry

I added business use to my modified daily and it added about £30 to the policy. If you don't add it you aren't covered, simple as that and it is YOU that will cop the 6 points and vastly inflated insurance costs for the next few years.

Surprised no one said to tell them to get you a moped so you can be a scootay mother fucker delivery boy.

The boss wont care if you are insured or not, as if you stop doing it someone else will.

The easy way is to just not turn up for your shift. They might get the message then.

I added business use on my car and my insurance actually went down, similar to the people getting it really cheap,
Problem is the op would be classed as a delivery driver and that will make the premium rocket, just like if you tell your insurance your a mechanic most won't give you third party on other cars
