Focus st-3 loss of boost at 4000rpm

My st-3 is loosing all boost at around 4000rpm then engine will only continue to rev up to about 4500rpm. Any help as to why would be welcome.

My mate had both the diaphram and the boost solenoid go! Symptoms sound familair
