I have a weird problem with my saph cosworth. After driving only 2 laps on a very small oval circuit (hardly any straights, most of the time just turning left corners) the engine starts to pop and splutter and it loses power. It feels like it doesnt get any fuel anymore. As soon as you drive in a straight line it recovers and drives normal.

When driving on the road it never has any hesitations and runs very smooth. Driving it fast it pulls like a train. Idle is also perfect and at the last rolling road test the air/fuel mixture was spot on.

Can it be the fuel in the tank moves to one site and then the pump cannot get fuel but only air? Is this a common problem?

 

i would imagine its the petrol sloshing about in the tank.for track you would be aswell fitting a swirlpot and two pumps to stop starvation under hard cornering

 

As above, in addition it may not even have a swirl pot if the tank has been replaced with one from a lesser model!

My Cossie has the same problem, in the corner going left it lost some power straid on no problem
And i found out that my Co is way too much its about 8%

If you have an aftermarket copy fuel tank then your left with 2 options iver bin it and get a genuine one or fit a swirl pot

 

I've got this exact same problem anything lest than quarter of a tank and it will get starved on hard cornering and launching.
I need to sort it , and it's defo down to the new aftermarket fuel tank .
Probably try to source a original tank .
