Default removing speed limiter and warantee?

Long story short I have been given a van for work but the poxy thing has an optional dealer fitted speed limiter done through the ecu which limits it to 56mph on the speedo which on my GPS is just 52mph. After 2 days of heading along dual carriageways and motorways having irate truck drivers sitting on my chuff I'm a bit miffed.

I asked on the manufacturers forum if the readily availble software would be able to remove it. The comments back were that it would invalidate the warantee on the van or I might fuck it up. I'm not green round the gills and have been tinkering for a good few years and making adjustements within VCDS on Audi's. Just feels that the chaps there are a little scared of doing anything themselves and their answer to everything is send it to the dealer.

I have had a long day though and am knackered and grumpy so I might just be missing the glaringly obvious

Decided I'm just going to hand the thing back tomorrow and go back to using my car but thoughts gratfully received.

as you say its "optional" so how can it possibly invalidate the warranty?
i'd be getting it taken off, no way can they knock it back for warranty

What van is it?

On the Transits with speed limiters they can't be removed completely (not using the IDS dealer tool anyway) but can be raised.

It's a 13 plate Peugeot Partner.

Peugeot have quoted (the rumour mill at work says anyway) a grand per van to sort it. As we have 40 vans the old bean counters have said we'll just have to put up with it until the 2 year runs out and we buy another 40.

If I could sort it and not screw any warantee it would make my life easier, to be honest even if it was retained and capped at 70 it would make life barable. I don't tank about as my licence really is vital to the job but being able to get places at teh speed limit would save me sooo much time

I was recently told a story about a hire car, where the driver turned the ignition off and on when moving and the limiter was by passed until they slowed down again.
Seems unlikely to me but worth a try.

That absolutely does work as I had to try it after being told about it. It's really less than ideal though and not something I want to adopt

Voids the insurance

Been there done that

Specifically states that in whatever deal has been done with the insurance company to get the date they are getting

Don't be fobbed off with the old bean counter story, they've dine it for screams on and not gone in blind about the deal no natter what they say

Also better on fuel

I have spoken directly to the person that ordered the vans and the managing director for the contract. It was 100% an error and the only reason we haven't had the limiters removed is the cost per van to have it done.

Our new vans in 2015 will not be limited.

Academic now anyway as I've handed it back and reverted to my car and mileage claims.

My previous tranny went for a service and came back without the restriction
Don't know why
Ford charge an hour to remove or raise the limiter
I can't see it being any different elsewhere

All new Vauxhall 'Eco' vans come with a speed limiter now, as government legislation req apparantly. This cant be removed via dealership level equip

Although it can be done with a VOSA certificate for removal only.

I wonder how long it will be until this happens across the board
