Default wobbly wheel bolts 4x100, to fit ford

are these safe and where is the best place to get them from and which ones.

theres so many types of wheels i like but they dont make them in 4x108 so was wondering is it possible to use the wobbly/corrective bolts to get 4x100 wheels to fit 4x108 fords? and is it safe

or would i need to mod the hubs or fit adaptors?

I don't think you'll have enough free play on the wobble bolts. They usually allow for 2-3mm.

its sort of what i thought just wanted to check

keep seeing fords with vag 4x100 wheels so my guess is they modify the hubs to suit

If it's a must for you to use these certain wheels, then change the hubs, somehow.

I would NEVER mess with anything like that - spacers, wobble bolts, spiggots, or ANY kind of adaptor etc.

Personally, wheels (and other "road gear") are VERY important to me for safety. I always check tyre pressures/condition, wheel condition, weights, everything. Always decent tyres, I NEVER curb an alloy, and drive annoying sometimes to avoid this! All through safety. I just think wheels are very important, and shouldn't be messed with like this.

There's a few horror stories about, regarding people modifying wheel fixings.

so many quality wheels in other make offsets are so bloody cheap, as soon as it says ford or 4x108 the price goes all tourist, never been a fan of these bolts mark and are a accident waiting to happen, the hubcentric style spacers with alternate PCD are best

Be worth messaging MK mark guy on here? He could make a killing by making a conversion hub I bet? His work is always top notch.

Stanced uk sell conversion spacers to change the pcd but they are quite thick so might have problems with the alloys ending up being too big a offset

these hubcentric things are already mass produced and quite cheap where as to fabricate a hub would cost way more and you may as well just use the money on correct wheel pcd in first place

I believe the smallest adapter is 15mm which could be taken into account when buying the wheels for correct offset.

I know of people that have run wobble bolts for years with no trouble, also people running spacers/PCD adaptors on cars that are used very hard with no issues. If you get the right things and fit them correctly they are perfectly safe. Also spigot rings are something you will find on pretty much all aftermarket wheels, and it's dangerous not to use them...

Contact a company called TT Precision Engineering in Chelmsford. I had a 4x100 wheel that they drilled to fit 4x108. They don't list PCD adaptation on their website so perhaps they've stopped doing it but worth a try.

IIRC Ł40/Ł50 per wheel.

As said above you will not be able to use wobbly bolts for an 8mm change in PCD. Your best bet is PCD adpaters which they do (or did) or get them to drill your wheels if they still do them. To convert from 4x100 to 4x108, they will bore out and mill slots on two opposing holes. Two holes will remain untouched as they would be in the right place.

You will find a lot of decent wheels in 5x112, if you like them then change the hub face (not the full unit) for a mk3 Granada which is 5x112.

Not the cheapest or easiest but saves using the adapters which could limit your choices by affecting the offset.

Forget that - only really any good if you have a sierra!

For sure, many people out there using many different type of wheel/hub mods with no probs - just not me.

Extremely dangerous not to use spiggot rings - I would always use the correct size, and would never suggest not using them. I just meant modifying these is also a no-no. (as you know, wheel nuts hold the wheel on, they do NOT take the full weight of the car).

Car manufacturers have done decades of research to bring us the right fixings and specs etc. Using wobble bolts is like cutting springs to me, it's not right, nor ideal, and there are other ways to do it better - I'd change hubs if it was me stuck in this position.

(or engineer the wheels, if wheel design permits)

Interesting method. If "PCD" represents a circle running through the centre of each stud/hole - how could 2 be in the right place?

A few wheel suppliers if I go direct say they can order the wheels as blanks so can have them drilled to order and works out about and extra Ł120 on top of the wheels so this is the best option for me

Just need to shop and see which I'm going to choose

Try phoneing wheel base, car audio and security in Hayes, stanced uk in Wokingham, some of these suppliers can buy the wheels without the drilling done and then we would have to pay for it to be done to suit

Not tried rota though

Personally, none. And intend to try and keep it that way.

For ME, and me only, I don't have a need to mess with my wheels. Each to their own. I got my alloys, got my treads, I don't mind.

a straight swap to a MK1/1.5 Foci is the hubs from a Transit Connect which i think is 5x108? Would give you wider scope.......

Wolfrace do it.

They supplied mine as blanks, and I chose the ET, and PCD spec.

And I wasn't charged a penny extra either.
