Default MOT emission test fail, advice please

Hello

Right I'm in need of some help and advice. Just put the wife's 2001 focus 1.6 zetec in for an mot and it failed on emissions, readings are

Test one
Speed <0.3℅ 4.85℅
Hc <200ppm. 389ppm
L. 0.95-1.09. 0.867

Test two
Speed <0.3℅ 6.39%
Hc <200ppm. 468ppm
L. 0.95-109. 0.821

Natural idle test
Speed. <0.5% 2.46%

So I'm thinking doing a full service, plugs oil filter and flush, as its been 4000miles 2 year since last but what else, lambna maybe? Its not long since had a cat, maybe 12 month ago at the most. Anything else?

Last year it was fine and had good readings, I have had the cam belt done this year if that makes a difference, plus the car does seem to be a little down on power.

Any ideas?

Adam

Oh and forgot to add, during the emissions test the engine management light came on, never done this before and it is code p1132. He cleared it and said its due to the emissions and its not come back on, could it be a faulty lambna sensor?

Cheers adam

get some one who knows what they are doing to look at it! any good mechanic with a scan tool and a multimeter should be able to diagnose and fix the fault for the fault you. and it should only be arround Ł30 - Ł60 plus parts on a car like that. its more than likey a missfire causing an excess of unburt fuel in the exhust system. but best to get it checked or you may as well piss into the wind!!

I don't intend to chuck money at it myself, garage recommended a good service and go from there, I will do that in the morning anyway as it needs one, just thought someone might have an idea as to fault as a start point, if the basic easy fixes don't work it will be either get someone to go over it or get rid, its a shame as its only done 80k and had loads of new parts on it, didn't fail or advise on anything else. I have a free retest within 2 weeks so if it fails that its gone

i can honestly say that Ł30 or so on service parts is 100% beter off spent on a proffesional diagnossis. than on the magic, engine fairy dust, contained within euro car parts 5/30 semi synth oil

P1132 - (Manufacturer Control. Fuel Air Metering)

More than likely lambda sensors.

Fuel/air metering, more likely air flow meter would you say?
Lambda for emissions first though, but why no code?

The eml did come on and give the code above but only during the emission test while it was at high revs, but he cleared it and it hasnt been on again. Said it came on due to high values during the test. What does the lambna sensor after the cat do? I assume the first one is used by the ecu to control fueling, IF that was at fault and misreading would it cause this issue. The fault code says something like bank 1 sensor show rich or something. Or could a slight misfire cause rich running, i cant pick up on any misfires but the car doesnt pull quite like it used to. Think it may be better to get it in somewhere but im not wanting to put aload of cash into the car really if there is a change it could be a quick fix.

It's rich as fuck, and was it a real cat you fitted last year, or one intended for a car ? Because it really isnt doing it's job either.

it could be as simple as a lambda sensor causing the main richness....but if it's a cheap aftermarket cat, they can be pretty crap.

Il try and make out what he wrote down for the code, i think it says p1132 lack of heated oxygen sensor bank 1 switch indicates rich.

Does that help?

It had a cat on nov 11. Im not 100% which one as it was an local mechanic that did the work, but been through an mot last jan fine with no probs,

P1132 - Ford
Type Powertrain - Manufacturer Controlled DTC - Manufacturer Controlled
Description
Lack of HO2S Switches, Sensor at Rich Limit Conditions
Location Bank 1 Sensor 1
Cause
Engine running in closed loop, then the PCM detected that the HO2S-11 signal did not switch because the fuel control system is at its rich limit

lambda's fucked!

So that is the one close to the engine isnt it, with this coming on only during the mot at high revs would this suggest its missreading during normal conditions causing part or all the problems and during high revs it over rich to an extent that is then registering out of limits then bringing the light on. Im aware there could be more than one issue maybe but i hink a service, oil and plugs and a sensor would be a good start
Cheers

Does anyone know what the rubber tube is under the inlet manifold is, i splits with a t piece but one side( longer side ) looks to have broken down and folded in on its self restricting or stopping the flow. Would this also contribute to the problem?

Any damaged hoses will have an impact on how the car runs

It's a breather hose really common for splitting causing an air leak which makes the engine thinks its week so riches it up defo fix that but lambda s ate also mega common too
