Default Do ebay sellers think were all stupid

I see so many cars on ebay now that are listed at a price that the car is no way worth yet they have a start bid of somthing stupidly over the top and yet they get a bid within an hour of them listed

its bloody obvious that they have got a mate to bid as the car is no way worth the start bid and nobody with half a brain would pay it

I watch these auctions and they always finish without another bid and then get relisted a week later with a starting bid much lower than the stupid start price last time ,

do these folk think we are stupid

If they started it last time at 10k and got a bid ( the only bid )
why then is it relisted a week later with a starting bid of 7k and again gets a bid within an hour and again doesnt sell

why didnt they take the stupid bid of 10k the first time

,,BECAUSE IT WASNT A REAL BID ,,AND WE KNOW IT ,,

They're probably too stupid as well to realise they will have to pay the sold fees each time as well!!

I was interested in a car last month, guy wanted Ł1995, it only had 2 months tax and test and other examples in similar condition, history and mileage but with full if not long MOT and more tax were going for around the Ł1400 - Ł1600 mark. Told the seller this and he wouldnt budge. So i bid Ł1600 and then at the last minute i got outbid. Then the seller emailed me literally half hour later saying the winning bidder doesnt want it but if im interested i can have it for Ł1895. Clearly someone he knew bumped that up hoping it would go higher and it didn't. Too much greed on ebay these days.

If they have got a friend or relative to bid and win.. then all they have to do is cancel the transaction, the seller cancels it the high bidder accepts the cancellation and the seller gets his final fees refunded minus the listing price.

If that's what they want to do, let them.

I know it costs me more, but if I'm selling a car on eBay, I will ALWAYS start at 99p and put on whatever reserve I want. That way it generates more interest from the start and you always get lots of messages asking what you'd end early for. My price to end early is always a bit more than the reserve, but not massively so. 90% of the time I'll get a buyer meeting my price so avoid final value fees. If not, the car will sell if it hits its reserve and won't if it doesn't.

Must have sold 50 cars on eBay over the years now and only once did a car come Ł40 short of its reserve. I re-listed it and 5 days later it sold for Ł150 above reserve and the buyer was happy he got a bargain.

worst one on ebay at moment is people that bid on their own items using 2nd acc's or get a family member/friend to bid on it, happens way too often and even if you report it to ebay as shill bidding they do sod all

theres always overpriced cars for sale everywhere, but bargains are still out there, my r32 is by far the best bargain car i have ever bought, that was through a forum though.

what i have learned is there is always someone out to rob your money one way or another and that is only getting worse over time.

its not just ebay paul, i got stung by the supra through a forum from a trader, i trusted the guy on face value and shouldnt of done and i payed the price for it lol
but atleast i can laugh about it now, i paid about Ł7kish over the odds for that car really

There are some decent honest people on the bay I consider myself one of them, unfortunately like elsewhere on the interweb there's a lot of fucking idiots too

I've been outbid on things too only to see them re-listed a week or so later, also had people buy/win things only never to pay which is proper frustrating, ebay's decision to remove the option to leave negative feedback for buyers was a stupid fucking thing to do

how can you warn other genuine members to avoid the twats?? if you can't leave negative feedback for people who piss around

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004610595...84.m1438.l2649

or you can bid & pay more than what the buy it now is this finished yesterday dearer than the buy it now price .Ł14.95
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4003306568...84.m1438.l2649

why do people not check on the going price

there was one lot sold last week for Ł24 some thing .

The auctions that annoy me are the ones where the seller states 'NO RESERVE' but has a starting price that's way over the top... So it has got a reserve, the starting price!

you do find the odd bargains here and there, but too many people have cottoned on to things like key words and you'll be looking for something and all of a sudden all you will have for page after page is some tat that has nothing to do with it

and i can second the thing about wheels showing up in a listing, as well as wiper blades and shit like that when you are searching for a switch or whatever

that said, once i have a good source for something i'll buy time and again, i tend to stick to that once source, regardless of who else may have it for 10p less, but that doesn't mean to say i spend 5 hours looking for a bargain that will save me 10p, if i cna't find something fairly easily i just don't bother looking for it again

mind you, if something is common enough it all seems to be either roughly the same sort of price, or it's a case of the prices being all over the place

currently looking at a hands free kit for my van and the price range goes from Ł2.99 all the way to Ł65 for the same thing that i want, how anyone can justify selling at such an inflated price (other than telling me "there is always someone out there who will buy it" ) is just nuts

I am bidding on models at the moment and declined a 2nd chance offer due to believing it was bid up on purpose.

On the Models there are a few people buying and instantly putting them back up for sale, it is so obvious the pictures are the same,

The 'bay has always had its issues but I generally find it more good than bad.
I was selling a lot of stuff through there when I had the business and the folk I dealt with we're all pretty good, only one tosser with my compressor which I eventually sold on another forum.
We all know those that bid stuff up,in fact ive done it myself a few times in the past,it often gets done just to generate interest, obviously if it's a totally unrealistic price then that's that.
I've had the second chance bollox, even spam sellers when I was after an Astra gsi years back trying to sell me a 1.7d estate etc, that's just part of life unfortunately.
Tbh when I'm trying to fathom a price for something,I use eBay as a guide, usually as my first port of call, and make a descision from that.
I needed an RCA to iPod connection t'other day, could get them for Ł5 on the bay but I needed it there and then so it's Ł18 from maplin, otherwise I would have waited the 2 days.
I never buy iso connectors in a shop anymore, their Ł15 in halfords, Ł1.50 delivered on eBay.
Cars are different of course as what's one persons mint is another's shit,if your not sure go and look.
I've bought a few blind off the bay and they've actually always been good,I bought a ka about 18 months ago damaged literally for spares but it turned out better than the one I was gonna break it for, I made a bid, emailed the guy and told him that was all I'd go to,he had visions that it was worth double what I was offering yet to his credit I won it on my opening bid and he honoured it and the deal was done, which was nice.
It's usually these student type wankers who try the "just have a bid,I don't know what it's worth,I'm letting the auction run" yet if you bid say Ł100 on a Ł500 item they pull the sale and get all shirty about it saying they'll "never sell it at that price" oh,so you do have a price in mind?
Ok.
So yeah, good and bad but generally good IMO.

My 2 experiences with eBay this month are.
1- bought a bargen cougar Ł350 with tax and mot. The guy payed Ł750 6months ago.

2- I sold a caravan heater for Ł50 that I was only going to throw away.

Result on both counts.

The ratio of idiots to good buyers isn't good enough for me to sell on it.

My brother sold a brand new unused clutch on there last week. The ad clearly stated it was for a Saxo (mentioned no other car). GThe buyer messages him the other day moaning that it won't fit his 2.0 306 and that my brother has wasted his time!! Fucking schleper.

Ebay is a good and equally bad - i know exactly what you mean and i hold my hands up to the most annoying thing ever, auctioning off a part and end early as it's sold off ebay, i've been tracking items for nearly a week with the thought i may sneak a bid but then it's finished early

I always start my auctions on what I would accept if it only got one bid.

Also leave my phone no. in case anyone wants to buy off of the bay.

I actually got a neutral feedback the other day ,cos I did free p&p and would not

give him the option of paying the postage ,twat.

That's fine but I would not consider it to be a no reserve auction when listed like that, no reserve to me means the auction starts at 1p!

i sold both doors off my 3dr for 1p each and specifically put in the add collect only...

so the guy that wins then asks me to wrap them up and strap them to a pallet so he can get a courier to collect them...

he got told to fuck off for 2p and i just left them on the drive to be collected.. i came home from work and they had gone. i got left left feedback so i guess he got them!

I sold some aquarium light tubes on ebay a couple of days ago, over Ł100 to buy new and the seller got them for Ł5. I put up Ł8 postage and the postage cost me Ł3.50, he was moaning like a right cunt about it. I said to him that the Ł8 also includes the cost of packing materials, fuel to drive into town, cost of parking and my time to do it all. I got right arsey with the cunt saying that it clearly stated Ł8 in the auction so if you weren't happy with that then why the fuck did you bid you thick cunt?

Still waiting for a response

Why do loads of people bid on a item when there are some on there for a bin price which is cheaper than the item with the bids.

Ive had that before. I just ended my message to them with something like 'If you didnt like the postage cost, why did you bother bidding then'.

But as mentioned, I hate it that you cant leave negative feedback for a seller.

Some people just dont look anywhere else to buy things other than eBay. If I want something, say a book. I will look on play, then Amazon & then eBay. Cheapest inc p&p wins.

I recently sold an iPhone 5 on ebay. The winning bidder had no feedback and never answered any messages. I made a 2nd chance offer but didn't hold up much hope. Needless to say I ended up having to relist it.

What annoyed me is that cunt bidded on an item he had no interest in which cost me money and forced me to have to relist it as it made me out to have got a "mate" to bid the thing up...
