An IB5 from a later Ford is as good as it gets without major mods... A CTS Stage 2+ is essentially just an IB5 with a quiafe LSD and shot peened gears.

There are a few types of MTX that can be used - all will need some sort of mount made for a Series 2 though and either recut shafts or custom ones made up.

Early MTX75 (Escort 16v RS2000) - Rod change, cable driven Speedo, starter at front
Later MTX75 (Focus inc FRS) - Cable change, sensor based Speedo drive, starter at rear
Early Focus TDDi/TDCi - Cable change, cable driven speedo, starter at front

Not sure on the ratios, someone else will know.

EDIT: Also the RS2000 MTX is about 1" shorter in length (block to chasis rail) compared to the cable change boxes.

The Early rod change boxes are all shorter than the cable change versions. So an Escort Rs2000 one would be your best bet and probably the easiest to obtain.

Jano sells the clutch for them too, as they are a bit of a fruity size and a Focus RS one won't fit in the box without a bit of grinding and a 3 of those gearbox spacer plates to push the box away from the engine. You can see this on QplateRST build thread - the Blue Zetec Mk2 Fiesta.

clutch is a 4 paddle helix that jamie had , it is fuckin nasty thing no good for road , then the centre was just swapped to fit the differnt shaft , shafts came with the box and everythin when i bought it all , how mine is mounted is on alloy blocks i dont no how u would go about doing it with rubber mounts with out welding in a mount , its just snapped the rear gearbox casing and cracked the 12mm steel front mount aswell ,

found this aswell the other day mite be of some use to u

"we charge Ł80 a side for shafts and Ł10 postage and packaging for a pair"
Thats an excellent price for shafts!!! MTX will be fitted next time I break a box for sure.

Amazing, thanks mate. I think a standard IB5 has clearance close to 10mm between the end of the gearbox and chassis leg/inner wing.... Im just wondering if I could get away with not modifying the inner wing and using rubber road mounts.... S1 stylee as I want to fit a 1600i ARB too.

Are there any pics in your project thread mate of this gearbox fitted?
