There are a few types of MTX that can be used - all will need some sort of mount made for a Series 2 though and either recut shafts or custom ones made up.

Early MTX75 (Escort 16v RS2000) - Rod change, cable driven Speedo, starter at front
Later MTX75 (Focus inc FRS) - Cable change, sensor based Speedo drive, starter at rear
Early Focus TDDi/TDCi - Cable change, cable driven speedo, starter at front

Not sure on the ratios, someone else will know.

EDIT: Also the RS2000 MTX is about 1" shorter in length (block to chasis rail) compared to the cable change boxes.
