Depends hugely on what power you're after, as well as budget.

Easily done without even opening it up.
Escort T3 and manifold
FRS inlet can be had cheap these days and are much better than the shitty HO inlets.
Cheapo cooler off eGay
I can't remember if the injectors need changing though
I spoke to Neil at FastFord about it, he's your man for cheap ZT conversions.

The standard ecu can be mapped, I'd run 8 psi which will quite happily see you with more like 220-230bhp.

Don't forget some ARPs, and valve springs wouldn't go a miss for the price, although not essential.

Totally contradicted myself when I said ARPs as that requires opening it up haha.

Never heard of anyone using Puma injectors mate, possibly Focus RS injectors IIRC.

He's on here as Neil@fastford.

Almost all of what you gave just told this fella is false mate.

Do a search. Plenty of info on here about conversion. And standard zetec management won't run it.

You better tell Neil that his MK1 Fiesta won't work then

And you better have a read up of this thread. https://passionford.com/forum/genera...the-cheap.html

FRS inlet better than the HO one, i'd like to see the flow map then, can't see how that is possible.
the rest of the info is fairly accurate, injectors wouldneed changing as would management to map for positive pressure, probably OFAB from the FRST, only issue there is the TPS, but you could use a cvh efi inlet on an adaptor instead. for you power target it will be more than adequate, even though not 100% ideal.

How are you going to lower the compression ratio with out opening the engine up ?

A focus Rs inlet is the same as any 2.0 black top inlet, only tb and injectors are different.

8 psi will not see 220 bhp for shit. Be surprised if you see 175 bhp especially if on ofab with a shity eBay cooler.

The only bit you said which was useful is the escort t3 part.

Best way IMO is either,
Vag 20v pistons in a 1.8 black top.

Or st170 bottom end with 2.0black top head.

Any thing else is just a ticking time bomb ( decomp plate, skimmed pistons )

Even with the above set up you'd probably end up running fiesta Rs management which is FAR from ideal.

Try not to cone on here telling people it's cheap easy to do, because it's not.

I reckon budget atleast Ł1000 for the most very basic crappy zetec turbo build.

it's funny you quote a grand, as just a few days ago i totted up a basic zetec turbo setup for about that without mapping/management.
8psi can easily get 200bhp+ on a 2046cc engine, but it is turbo and spec dependant on the rest of the kit. there are plenty of ZT's that hit over 300bhp on a BAR.

Indeed it will with a decent turbo ( not a shite escort t3 ) and a 2046cc isn't a unopened engine as quoted by crowson.

On a standard lump with a decomp and ofab with a chip 10psi is about 200bhp. But will blow up , just depends how long and how lucky you are.

Spend a grand. Decent coast t3 or a t28 of a 200sx. ( or even better a standard focus Rs manifold and turbo) and megasquirt on a decent lump will see a nice reliable 220 bhp all day long. But will cost 2k minimum by the time you've bought a fuel pump, intercooler, few bits of pipe , the engine and management.

Does a focus RS head gasket work for zetec turbos? Its thicker than the usual zetec engine ain't it, and maybe help lower the compression ratio? Or am I wrong here?

I ain't seen Neil on here in ages, where is the guy?
