Ordered a chip on ebay, turned up in 2 pieces :(
Hi guys, i ordered a powerchips 195 chip from ebay, the user has good feedback but it arrived with the back off of it and a fair bit of silicone on the circuit board....
is this normal? bit worried.....i clipped the back on no problems and now looks ok again was just wondering, heres some pics:

And clipped back together easily enough:

What do u think?
Cheers Adam

hold on a sec ive just seen your spec... CVH35, T3, and a 1.8 ZVH?
the map on that chip will not be right!
best case it runs poorly
worse case the engine melts

im not running above 14psi which is suitable for standard pistons on a 1.8 ZVH?
and the car is always mapped by power engineering before its drove and will be off their first.
my understanding is, if i want to run more boost, its forged pistons or management....why do u think its due to melt? it idled and ran fine (round the block) on a non suited 165 superchip....just interested...top end or something else, as said i always map the car once i have done engine work.

195 chip, uprated fuelpump and beiges? which are meant to work together?

Because its the spec of the chip not the spec of your car
If the same way that you can fit a different sized door into the standard opening, it requires some buggering about before it's sorted, and you may find that urging the correct door in the first place is the cheapest option in the log run

as above, the issue is the TURBO is different and so is the capacity.
these 2 things will affect the requirements and therefore the MAP on the chip will be wrong.
dont get me wrong the car will start and drive, but it could also potentially melt!
dont bin the chip, the hardware itself is worth 75quid! you just need somewhere to remap it.
the only place i KNOW can do this is motorsport developments. grove garage MIGHT be able to do it, but i heard his equipment got nicked.
probably a few more places in the UK but i dont know of them.
AFAIK PE dont have the equipment to do this.

chips liek this are usually 'off the shelf'
so yours is suitable for an efi turbo with certain things added to it
therfore if you fit it with higher boost etc you will need the fuel to match and without it you will melt a piston or 2 or 4
to be honest ive run a few zvh's on 'off the shelf' chips for cvh and its been fine but thats no proof yours will be, i figured whats 200 cc's at 18psi lol
get your wallet out, big port/valve head, fancy turbo, and a few other bits and you are talking some good power
course it wont stop there and you will soon want forged big end rebuild, bigger turbo, alloy fancy bits and when you turbo round you have 10 grand in you bay
