Right ive come to the point where i need to open up the ports one my zetec head, its a silvertop 2ltr with ST170 inlet and tb's, cams etc.

Problem is the ST170 inlet is approx 5mm wider all around the zetec inlet port, thus interfering with the injector spary pattern and air flow.

Has any one self ported the inlet side of the head to the max and found how thick the inlet walls are, particually around the inlet face?.

I need to know if i can do say a 45 deg chamfer (sp) 5mm around the face and abviously 5mm into the inlet port without going into a water jacket etc

Also is it worth removing the valve guide where it protrudes into the inlet trackt, if so whats the best way to do this?

You can get away with only having to remove a small amount around the top of the port where the injector cutout is. But the manifold needs to be altered.

As the ST170 manifold fits to the zetec head, this is how it lines up



This is the ST170 inlet on the zetec head, but the steel inserts in the maifold need to be removed so it can be lowered on the head.



The scribe line is the difference in the two parts

 

Nice one Rob, thought you might have some info on this.

If the guide inserts are removed like said, would it be a good idea to dowl the head and manifold to keep it in position and take some load off the bolts.
