Default Gasket between turbo and manifold, who uses one?

The small square gasket that goes between the turbo flange and the place where it mounts onto the manifold.
Been having issues with this, before I got my car rebuilt it never ran one and I never had any issues, when I put it back together I decided to put one in, it lasted about 300 miles then melted, i bought/brought another one and it lasted an even shorter time before doing the same, they were both metal, so when I saw melted I mean it disintegrated and there was less than 1/4 of it left.
Do most people run without them?

I have had over 20 cozzies over the years and never seen one on any of my turbos. I always finely sand the two faces after run for a few mins seals up itself lol

If its a daily driven car not getting used hard and you are bothered at the slight bit of noise you tend to get from not running a gasket then use one, but IME they tend not to be reliable on cars getting used hard.

Personally I never use them anymore having had failures in the past when I have done so.

I've used one on every turbo i've fitted - got one on now and have never seen any fail, melt or cause any issues.

I have heard of loads of people saying now they don't use them like you do further down the 2wd manifold where it splits but i had issues here with sealing mainly due to the non standard bolts previously being used and failing out - but got the correct material ones in there now.

i put a cometic one on my t24, blew it within 10 miles, so guessed it was faulty, changed it again, and it lasted about 8 miles this time, took it off and ran without, not a problem since.

I would think your manifold or turbo flange is warped letting gasses pass and washing the gasket, i would lightly sand the faces and try a straight edge on them.
