I've used one on every turbo i've fitted - got one on now and have never seen any fail, melt or cause any issues.

I have heard of loads of people saying now they don't use them like you do further down the 2wd manifold where it splits but i had issues here with sealing mainly due to the non standard bolts previously being used and failing out - but got the correct material ones in there now.
