Just wondered peoples opinions, never brought a car that's been freshly built that's all.

 

Did you buy that Saph with the A1 engine ?

 

err no it shouldnt

could be down to a few things wrong

id go back as it has very little miles on it and get it sorted

does it have any warrenty

if you just bought a car go back to seller as warrenty might not pass over to a new owner

 

cant see why the warranty wouldnt pass ove tbh mate as long as its in the warranty period.

 

what aspects of the engine are rebuilt? it could have just had new shells in the bottom end and been stamped rebuilt.

 

its just a way people get out of sorting problems

trust me on that seen it many times

and leaves no argument as who ever builds it can say

Sounds like valve stem oil seals!

 

cheers lads, the engine was completely rebuilt, new pistons, existing block, rods, crank, but a new head as this melted aswell along with the piston when the actuator pipe popped off.

it was stone cold, the engine sounds as tight as a nuns chuff when it fired, just like the the smallest amount puffed out, like a fart size lol. It was warmed up for a while then driven.

the head was new to the engine, but unsure it was 'brand new' like it never been run.

 

Without knowing where the oil is coming from, it's hard to say, certainly no amount of oil should pass the rings, but if the head was not new/recon then could be as said stem seals, could also maybe be old oil in the pipes, intercooler etc.
If you drive it too easy you will glaze the bores, use plenty of rpm, but don't load the engine, ie if going up a hill that you can do in 5th at 3000rpm instead use 4 at 4000rpm etc, I am at 6000 rpm by 500 miles with no load, ie in lower gears just letting it rev out, don't keep the same rpm, alter frequently by changing gear etc.
Don't load the engine till at least 1000 miles, then medium loads, working up to full loads for short periods by 2000 miles, then give it death after that!!
My last)cossie) engine did 200,973 miles in my cossie, had perfect compression, mpg, running emissions of 0.97% CO, 137ppm even with that mileage.
60 miles is way too soon to judge if it's burning oil, most likely it's from rebuild aspects, I've seen brand new cars with zero miles puff on start up, and some needed bump starting, due to being so tight.
