Default track car.... or not

right new to this and to cut a long story short i have a 5door escort work car but i have a new job opposite my house now, so was wondering should it be made to a track car as i have nothing better for it or would keeping it as a run around and getting something else to start building track? opinions and reasons all appreciated.

A 1.6 zetec escort, will be a crap track car IMO
you will get bored within a lap as it just isn't fast enough in a straight line and it will corner like a barge..
you also need to factor in the cost of track days, there just not cheap anymore!

As painful as it is to do so. The cheapest way to get into a decent track car is to buy French.

Clio sports are amazingly good as standard
205 1.9 gti
Clio willams
Saxo VTS
106 GTI

All fantastic handleing cars for not alot of money. They all have a respectable amount of go in them too.

My clio cost me 1200quid.

It get abused everywhere it goes, has done 5 track days this year.

it was on 120,000 miles.

And i addore it!

The funny thing was, the first thing i did was strip it out and i got Ł300 back for the leather seats!

300 back is a decent bonus im also thinking insurance though i have 1 years no claims so is their anything smaller that wont sting me so much that i could just make slightly quicker myself like a 106 xsi or would that be too slow

Yeh the escort will be poor or less you have a few hundred quid to play with. You could sort the suspension out and stick a 2ltr zetec in it.
