hi all, my fuel pump went on my mk2 mondeo so i bought a brand new complete bosch one for £150 and put it in.. but now my fuel gauge reads backwards, when its full its near "E" on the gauge and when its near empty its near the "F" on the guage, As i drive it every day i notice the fuel gauge going up as its using fuel

I cant work it out , it cant be the sender/pump as its brand new , im guessing its the gauge? Ive found a brand new one on ebay for my year of car is it worth buying it and seeing if the gauge is at fault?

I wanted to ask as i didnt want to buy a new gauge and not being the problem, many thanks.

 

If the gauge was working ok before the new pump/sender, then it is withoiut doubt the pump/sender, as it is obviously reading opposite, some gauges work one way some another, this sender unit is matched to one which reads the other way than yours, either chanc eit and change the gauge for one that is correct, or put in correct pump/sender.

hi, the fuel gauge was wrong before this sender too, it just randomly changed backwards one day, I thought it would be ok once this new sender/pump went in but its still out,

looks like i will have to buy a new guage and see if that sorts the problem, cheers.

 

swap positive and negative around?

 

this happened to a mk4 escort i had years ago,very strange as it just randomly started reading in reverse aswel,never tried to fix it,just got used to reading it that way!
