Default clutch/gearbox problems... help

right, ive got my car back together but am having some issues with the clutch/gearbox.

ive got a cossie engine on a renault box, with a std ap/motorcraft cover and ap 6 paddle centre plate, hydraulic system thats been pressure bled about a thousand times. gearbox oil is new redline lightweight shockproof oil,

i cant change gear
cant even get it in gear in the garage

with the engine off i can choose all gears,
with the engine on if i press the clutch then go for any gear, it really doesnt wanna go in, can force it but it grinds and then jumps in gear, but once its in gear the biting point is as it should and it lets me pull away as i should but when i go to change out of gear to go for 2nd it doesnt wanna come out of gear.

if i put it in gear with the engine off then start it with my foot on the clutch it starts fine, then works as it should when i release the clutch.

if i start it in gear with no foot on the clutch it jumps forward.

the clutch fork moves when the pedal goes down, about 1/2 inch, as it should.

im lost.
any1 got any ideas?

its 1/2 inch at the top of the fork, its more like just under an inch at the bearing/cover plate

i need a new slave thats smaller but this one has been in the car and working for 3 years and now all of a sudden it doesnt.
so theres a problem elsewhere

the slave end will move a LOT more than the release bearing end.

One way or another your clutch is dragging. has this problem just occured, or occured after some rebuild work ? ie...is the friction plate in the right way round ?

i had this problem when put a v6 in an astra gte and used the v6 flywheel bolts instead of the 2.0 16v ones. i know its a different car but could be a shoot in the dark.

I've had 2 different people tell me the covers fucked and on my way home to change it it's died totally.
Going home to pull it out and see, I've got another clutch to try.

And my slave moves less travel than the bearing due to the position of the pivot point.
And the centre plate only goes/fits 1 way.

Seen this where either no clutch grease was used on the shaft or it(friction plate) was really tight, it keeps the box spinning even with pedal pressed.

right update time.

ive taken the box off again and found the splines on the centre plate are fucked, this is why i lost gears, it popped off the input splines aand the end 5mm of centre plate splines are gone.
so basically the clutch centre wasnt attached to the box

why or how this happened im not really sure.

but it means i need to send the centre plate back to ap to have a new spline fitted, and im gunna rebuild it in a week or so whenever that returns,
while its apart im gunna get the flywheel and ap cover plate skimmed cos they got a bit hot during all this shit. and refit it with a new smaller slave that will push more and give me better clearance.
