Default Few Questions??

i like to keep all my questions in one thread as it takes up less room so here goes!

Head gasket

my head gasket has started to go, hard to start using water, misfiring so ive taken her off the road for winter so my head questions are:

what cam to use fast road good gains?
stainless steel valves? where to get them from?
payen head gasket is the one to use?
is it worth while getting some porting and polishing doing if so rough price?
how much roughly for a head skim and crack test?
What spark plugs can i use? i asked a motor-factor for some uprated ones and they couldn't find any, anyone point me in the right direction

boost hoses

i want to bring my intercooler forward so will need longer boost hoses is it worth while getting a a metal pipe boost hose so its silicone then long metal tube with a bit of silicone on the end?
what is the advantage of that?
how can you get chatter out of the MFI i know it wont be all that loud but is there a type of dump valve to have or just a cone filter and no dump valve the way to go?
obviously the bottom boost hose will just be normal silicone i guess forge motorsport is okay to use for hoses?

Clutch/Gearbox

i have a stage 1 fast road clutch to go in as my standard one is slipping is it worth just for peace of mind getting the fly wheel grinded so its all nice and flat ready for the clutch.

Cooling system

i have a bit of trouble in this area, the car always seems to get a bit hot i do have a full size front mount intercooler which blocks my alloy rad hence why im putting the fans behiund the intercooler to hopefully aid with cooling.

should i put a swirl pot in? advantages disadvantages?
would all coolant silicone hoses be of good effect?
is it worth while getting a turbo cooler?
msd fan switch?
cooler thermostat?

Boost/Fueling

now i want the car to run moderate power and be safe so it doesn't go pop.

fifth injector? how much can i get a kit for roughly?
getting the car set up, is it better without a bleed valve most people say its safer to set the pre-load on the actuator instead?
can you get the car set up to over-fuel a bit on over run to get some good pops and bangs, I have a full 3inch with 4.5inch back-box and don't get that many pops really I am running around 12 psi if that helps.

i think that is it for now sorry its absolutely massive but rather get it all in one place i will update as accordingly if i have more questions

Many Thanks

Head gasket

my head gasket has started to go, hard to start using water, misfiring so ive taken her off the road for winter so my head questions are:

what cam to use fast road good gains? Newmans
stainless steel valves? where to get them from? Don't bother, no need
payen head gasket is the one to use? Standard ford or payen are the best bets
is it worth while getting some porting and polishing doing if so rough price? Depends who does it, but removing the casting marks and valve guide your self will help more than a shite porting job
how much roughly for a head skim and crack test? Think i paid £100 last time, with new valve guides fitted too.
What spark plugs can i use? i asked a motor-factor for some uprated ones and they couldn't find any, anyone point me in the right direction Original Ford, ebay or motor-sport developments.

boost hoses

i want to bring my intercooler forward so will need longer boost hoses is it worth while getting a a metal pipe boost hose so its silicone then long metal tube with a bit of silicone on the end? Why do you want to move it forward mate?
what is the advantage of that?
how can you get chatter out of the MFI i know it wont be all that loud but is there a type of dump valve to have or just a cone filter and no dump valve the way to go?
Turn up the boost watson, fit a cone filter and remove your dump valve
obviously the bottom boost hose will just be normal silicone i guess forge motorsport is okay to use for hoses?

Clutch/Gearbox

i have a stage 1 fast road clutch to go in as my standard one is slipping is it worth just for peace of mind getting the fly wheel grinded so its all nice and flat ready for the clutch. A flywheel skim is cheap and will do you no hard, especially if you are already going to a machine shop with your head.

No
would all coolant silicone hoses be of good effect? No
is it worth while getting a turbo cooler? Maybe, some people say they don't make much difference.
msd fan switch?
cooler thermostat?

MSD Fan switch, two 10" fans (kenlow/pacet), the cooler stat may also help but im not a big fan.

Boost/Fueling

now i want the car to run moderate power and be safe so it doesn't go pop.

fifth injector? how much can i get a kit for roughly?

Not important how you turn the boost up, actuator rod, bleed valve etc, just make sure you get it properly set up afterwards!! My car had 17psi and 185bhp iirc on standard MFI (no 5th injector), but it would have been a much better drive with a 5th injector for numerous reasons.

i think that is it for now sorry its absolutely massive but rather get it all in one place i will update as accordingly if i have more questions

Many Thanks

Hope that helps mate

Cheers for that mate! i want to move the intercooler forward so i can get the fans behind it, space is a bit tight at the moment so i need to bring the intercooler more up right i suppose, and i also plan to cut out the front bumper a bit to aid a bit more airflow a bit like twins bumper on his RS if you have seen it?

Thanks

Payen gasket is the same a ford as far as I know.

Bcr8es plugs. Ford say a gap of .75 but mine ran bad so lowered the gap to .60 and it's runs sweet
