Default parts for ecu change?

hello peeps

i have a l6 rwd car that i want to fit a l8 to (better driveability and economy)

anybody got any ideas on any additional parts that will be needed apart from the ecu

any advice on any loom changes would be appreciated too

L8 has twice the memory storage capacity (128Kb instead of 64Kb) as L1 and L6. That's why chips can not be interchanged.

i think you can make it work thou, when you modify few sensor wires, and make a chip for it. i dont know for sure, but i think it could be done.

i would advice you to get programmable chip for your l6 and program it.

you need the TPS to match the L8. it's marked up as PF09 and as well as on 4x4 sierra and large trbo escort, was also fitted to some fiat group cars. when fitting this TPS to your 2wd loom, you need to change the outer 2 wires around as the poti. works the other way around to the 2wd one.

so you dont need to chip anything? thats great. so only thing that needs to be changed is that throtle position sensor and it wires?

The chip in the L8 must be an L8 type of course, but Nicks text above me explains whats required just to make the L8 itself work correctly in your car.

u need a O2 sensor too if its the /01 box

you don't need a lambda sensor, it will run perfectly well without one. but it's better for clean running, fuel economy, emissions etc if you take advantage of having one (although in most cases an upgraded chip will not use the lambda sensor)
