L8 has twice the memory storage capacity (128Kb instead of 64Kb) as L1 and L6. That's why chips can not be interchanged.

i think you can make it work thou, when you modify few sensor wires, and make a chip for it. i dont know for sure, but i think it could be done.

i would advice you to get programmable chip for your l6 and program it.
