Yeah the DVLA are usless. Bought a car the other month, log book took about 3 weeks to come through, bought another car, log book was through in like a week!

Then i took the private plate off my car, they send me my new MOT, tax disc through etc, but said the log book will be sent through seperate?! Cant think why. There gay.

if they have stamped it and wrote the new reg on it then they can't do it.
And i don't think you can tax online as you need a renewal or reference from the V5.

Do a dell boy and write Tax in post.

My mother in law sent one off and got it back within a week.... I think ours took about 2 weeks to come back. They are normally pretty quick but I am sure it says somewhere you can be waiting up to six.

If you knew you needed to tax it though, why didn't you just wait to apply for a log book and just tax it up at a DVLA office?

if you go to your local dvla office once the car is in your name even though the log book has not arrived they will tax it, just done it last week

They haven't updated the tax status on the gf's car yet, well it was only MAY 09 that the local dvla office taxed it, on a DLA504 so have to send off copies etc etc, L714 DOD will be retaxed next month, even though it still shows as untaxed now 11 months on!!
