I was in maldives for my honeymoon and its v exclusive and it's like living in a postcard, picture island. Google or youtube Meeru Island. That's where i went and james msd was there too. Unbelievable.
I' afraid i cant imagine anywhere else being as perfect

Did you get bored there ? We also looking at holidays at the moment and fav's are Caribbean or Maldives, but i'm worried I will get bored on Maldives.
I FUCKING hate sand and beach holidays too

Never got bored. It's AMAZING.
Would've been a katrillion times better if i could have gone in the water had i not broken my hand 2 days before my wedding

I dont mind beach holidays, but I'm not one for 2 weeks of sitting on a beach doing nothing, I like to go and explore. Like Thailand last year went here there and everywhere LOL
But with Maldives being so secluded I'm not sure I will like it, is there much to do in the way of day trips / excursions ?
pmsl @ your hand, divvy! Like Dave this year he took a chunk out of his shin 3 days before holiday so had to stay out the water for about a week

We've just booked our Honeymoon. It was always our plan to do it on our first anniversary, because we wanted to do it properly. Dubai and the Maldives. We are highly excited.
I'm not even slightly interested in the Caribbean. The last place on earth I'd want to go to be honest.
there is plenty of trips to do, most water related, like game fishing, but you can do island hopping, or visit male the capital,
but for me its about the sea and the fish. swimming with the big sharks that come in is awesome, i swam with a 5ft reef shark last year. i seriously spend 7 hours a day snorkelling, its just amazing!
i cant imagen going on holiday anywhere else now, nothing else seems to be in the same league, we went to the dominican republic after our first maldives trip, and we just wanted to come home it was nothing we wanted
went back to the maldives last year and it really was out of this world

We did Mexico a couple of years ago and the place we stayed was really nice, but I just have a feeling all the Caribbean is going to be the same, if that makes sense?

We are REALLY looking forward to snorkelling in the Maldives. We have a 'Luxury Sunset Water Villa' with steps leading directly from our villa into the water. Although our island is recently developed, we made sure that the reefs are still intact and the reports are good.
We have done 2 nights in Dubai, but due to good flight times it will be closer to 3 full days. We are staying in The Grosvenor, which is #1 hotel in Dubai on Tripadvisor. We have a Club Suite!
We wanted the contrast of a bustly city break in Dubai, but total relaxation in the Maldives for the remaining 7 nights. Roll on September.

Thats sounds fab to me, hope you have a good time.
We did the same in Thailand, had 2 days on end of holiday in Bangkok but due to flight times was near enough 3 days.Which island are you staying on in Maldives ?
If either of you smoke, dont do it in the wine bar in the airport at Dubai unless you buy a glass of wine, I got verbally abused by the barman because I refused to buy a glass of wine at 6am in the morning to have with my cigarette

We've been to the Red Sea 4 times now and never bothered to dive, we could see all we wanted to see in 3-4 metres depth. I can't see the Maldives being any different.
thers is hundreds of islands out there, ive done meeru which was really nice for our honeymoon,
and we did summer island last time, not quite as refined as meeru but still nice,
the island next to us about 300 yards away, on summer island was Ł3.5k per night, frank lampard was there in his boat

I guess it depends on where you go. Our biggest worry is construction noise. The hotel itself is MINT. We only went for 2 nights there as it's not entirely our thing, but thought we ought to add another facet to our honeymoon. We think it will make a lovely contrast.
We usually go snorkelling with waterproof throw-away cameras, which are actually quite good, but I am looking at getting a new compact and underwater housing. Only snag is that they are designed to go down to 40m and priced accordingly. That is BIIIIIG overkill for what I will do with it. I wish there was something inbetween. I don't want a waterproof compact, as it will only be used underwater once a year tops and they are ugly camera's.
