Default selling a private number plate question

folks

i'm interested in buying a car which has a private plate on it; now i'm only buying the car for the plate!.

the car is cheap'ish as it is (£800), so i wrote to regtransfer and they come back with a valuation of £500 for the plate

my question is, in your experience do they massively over value plates just to get you to advertise it with them or are they pretty accurate valuations?

i dont want to buy the car if i cant sell the reg quickly - whilst i appreciate it all depends on the configuration of the plate, i intend just to make a quick few quid off the plate then punt the car on

opinions please!
Matt

They MASSIVELY over value plates!

They valued a plate I own at £2300 and I've had it for sale at £400 for 3 years now and had no joy.

that's not promising then!

what is your plate out of interest? i guess it all depends on what the actually letters & configuration is

the one in question is KFR 54D

not worth anything dude,
unless the plate says summit without miss-representing it, it's worth peanuts.

the only way you could market that would be K FR5 4D to a focus rs owner.

it's impossible for it to be G004 LYN as as this would read G4 LYN it's a 2004 reg not a 1990
