insurance with parents
You've saved money by doing so......so why should you reep the same rewards as someone paying the full whack?! You can certainly ask for it to be taken into consideration and some companies will do that, but as far i'm aware you haven't actually earned your 'own' no claims bonus. I did the same as you when i was younger due to the costs but kind of wished i hadn't when i went for it on my own!
Never gonna give you up!

Quite simply no unless explicitly stated by your current insurer. Which in that circumstance the NCB would only be applicable to that company and not transferrable.
Let me guess, you want to try and insure a Cossie now?

i did exactly the same as you when i first passed my test

looking back if im honest would have been much better just starting with my own insurance and gathering my OWN ncb
as when i eventually got a nice car myself and came to insure it i was bent over and dry bumraped !!!!!
you might aswell start earning ncb on shite cars which are cheap to insure until you have your own ncb
as stated in a previous responce and rightly so youve been cheating so far so why should you be entitled to a deduction too!!!

Don't get me wrong, i'm paying the full amount for my insurance and to be on theirs. I just thought i'd ask if about the ncb situation, as ive heard conflicting arguments over it.
I left my insurance on theirs, because it was cheap and easy while running to work and back...I've basically got stuck in a rut and i've lost all these ncb.
I've found a cheap car i was going to use to build up my ncb while restoring something i'd want to drive in the future.
I'm going to get some quotes today.

to be honest technically if you have been the main driver of a car and been insuring it in your parents name with you as a main driver not many people know this but that is actually a form of fraud called fronting as you are giving misleading details to the insurance company to lower the premium placed upon the vehicle and an insurance company could not pay out your claim if this was to be found out
no insurance comapny in my knowledge would regard you as having any no claims you will still have ho ever many years driving exsperience you have had which will help you but not as much as the ncd
the only possibility you would have is to say you had a company car for the last year or so from when ever you turnd 18 when getting quoted as they wont be able to check this fact if it is true or not and they may be a bit more inclind to budge on the premium but you will have to talk to some one over the phone to do this and there is no guarantee especially when at the moment insurers are trying to make there books look better which is why they are being more picky about who they insure and some people may have seen there premiums shoot up as they are not seen as a viable risk
