im currently at 144bhp and 141ftlb of tourque, hoping to get to near 150 with the cams then 155-160 with a custom map?
how much more could i do to the car? itb conversion? nos? turbo?
its currently got st manifold, decat, stainless st cat back, pipercross viper, magnecore leads.

I think someone on another thread gave advice about the gearboxes (IB5) fitted on the 1.8 can only take 160bhp before giving up.
The 2 litre came with an MTX-75 which is a far stronger box in comparison. But i don't know if it is a straight swap.
And my advice would be to get brakes and suspension done before getting big power figures!
Wouldn't it save a lot more time and effort to buy an St170 for about £4500 save money on the mods and have 170(ish) bhp on tap, a better suspension option and bigger brakes. and you can work on from there?

mines already been lowered and has strut braces, its going to get fully polibushed and maybe coil overs next year, and i dont want to change to an st170 tbh like my car and want to spend money tuning it instead :P looking at itbs next after the cams are fitted, thats why i want to know what power i could expect tbh

give me a few months and ill let you know what i manage to get
Scotty Dog i do see what you mean about just buying a 170 as ive had one and they are a really good car but i will be honest, you need to wring their neck to get the power out of them and even then if you have one that prodices 170 your in luck. there are people on the FFOC that had standard well maintained 170's RR'd and managed 155bhp and even still the majorityof that only happens when the runner switches over at higher RPM.
im back in a 1.8 now enjoying the MPG for the time being but on the horizon sooner rather than later are GSXR750 ITB's, followed by ST170 full exhaust system and then Cams/vernier with Megasquirt going in there somewhere inbetween. 1.8 owners have managed 140 - 150 bhp on little more than the full 170 exhaust inc manifold so add the cams, vernier and bodies, cost still coming in at less than a 170 but with 170 eating power
i dont want to say what power im hoping for as i dont want to look like a male chicken when it dont hit that, a few RR sessions though when its all done to see what happens

ill take a load of pics for you when i get home bud
the basics you need are the bodies, manifold, managment and loom but there is other stuff needed:
Sillicone hose,
T-pieces for said sillicone hose
Idle control Valve (if you are going to use an idle air set up)
Throttle cable
Air filter/trumpets
i have no idea what year mine are off bud but get on ebay and search "zetec throttle bodies" theres a set on there now im watching to see what they go for (curiousity) more than anything and it has manifold, injectors etc.. with it. id put a link up but ebay aint working on the work computers for some reason?
