Default nova boyracer again

Well it dont matter what car i have but the question is why?
why do they try and race what they know they cant beat?
For example i was tootling along at my own steady pace aftervisiting my missus at her works earlier, when on the by-pass on the way back i had novaboy in my mirror bearing down on me with a big grin ,looked like a scene from BenHur,well i let him by because i coudnt be arsed, then i decided otherwise and as he come by me i give the old right foot a "twitch" and all of a sudden he stops grinning and he looks like he's constipated needless to say i whipped his ass,and wished him merry christmas....

so why do they do it? please enlighten me

i let them passed , or slow down to 30 on a main road ,

that seems to piss them off more than beating them in a race

Im not sure that is true anymore, or perhaps its just cause i know so many people into novas that my view is skewed, but there seems to be load and loads of 2.0 16v ones knocking about near me.
Most of the chavs and boyracers seem to have moved onto saxos and novas are now starting to get owned by people in their 20s with a few quid to spend on them etc.

I guess its like people on this forum probably think of an RST as something that will normally be in very good nick and fairly quick, but most of the ones ive encoutnered have been rusty, slow and puffing oil out the back, all down to what circles (or ovals!) you mix with i guess?

st3v3, if you do decide to supercharge it, then now is the time, the exchange rate is nearly 2:1 with the states, and people like procharger do some fantastic chargers for peanuts, 1500 quid would see you sorted i should think.

You should have a LOT of cash lieing around st3v3, seeing as you sold the RST for more than the value of the entire planet

been quoted Ł3000 fitted should give about 225bhp and over 200lb/ft torque which would be nice

I remember my first car, escort 1.3 CFI, 60 BHP of pure rage . anyway pulled up to some chump in a "modded" nova at a set of lights, listening to his "pure mental" tunes. I had me and 3 others in t the car, wapped on some good music and tehn he stars giving his engine a rev, chist ist sounded like it was gonna explode , anyway I still beat him so it must ahve been a 1 litre
IMO they look shit, are shit and always will be shite no matter how fast they are I'd still rather walk

If i was going to do it and not use a yank sourced procharger the only one i would consider really is the rotrex sp30-84

I used to get the same.
I have my tatty looking red nova which everyone wants to race to show me what a twat i am for owning a nova, then they end up embarassed when it beats them.

Then i was driving around some of the time in a prelude that was lowered and on big wheels etc, which looks like its probably really quick but was only just under 200bhp, no one would race me in that cause it looked so quick, but half the people i was beating in my nova could have wasted me in my prelude if they had given it a go

Have they got decent rods in them as standard? From what i remember i thought they were a bit pansy looking for 225bhp

I would have thought that 300bhp was VERY easily obtainable on a decent supercharger if you put some forged pistons and arrow (or similar) rods in it.
That shouldnt come to much more than about 4-5 grand all in.

the gear box is the weekest link on theses and at Ł2600 i cant afford to break many of them,
cant be sure on the rods or pistons but i have read somewhere they are quite strong, not sure on the make up of them though.

High compression, cast-aluminium pistons and forged steel connecting rods.

The rods are VERY strong its the pistons and the compression ratio i would worry about if your going on the supercharger route.

p.s the ST170 is a quicker car on track then straight road (thats why it loses to alot of cars on the road, except underpowered Nova's )

p.p.s the RS Turbo IS the faster car on the road no doubt, BUT I think it wouldnt keep up with a ST170 round a track
