nova 16v/S2 ERST driving difference???!!
ive got a 171bhp 2litre 16v nova at the mo, but im hoping to swap for a black ERST, just wonderin wot the driving diffference will be, i mean im thinknin the rs is not guna be as quick in a straight line an top end, but then u wont get the rush of the turbo from the nova an the noise!, less weight at the front as well on the rs, anyone driven both of these to compare?? i know there's always guna be a bit of a thing with nova owners being seen as hooligans on the road, but not all of us are like that
anyways il be a RS driver soon so.....
(i do luv the brute power of the nova but feel like a change to be honnest) wot do peeps think.....

thanx, yea i mean i do like novas obviosly an wen done properly they can be very very fast specially in XE an LET form, but they are much more of a drag car realy, u need to spend ŁŁ on the suspension setup to sort it due to the weight up front....
I had a real blat with a red 2.0l 16v nova in my old Red RST. The RST was pushing out about 175 bhp and over 5 laps of a well known bridge circuit
i had pulled out about 3 car lenghts on him. We were both going for it flat out lap after lap.
As i parked the nova came over and in complete supprise wanted to know why he hadn't sailed past me like he does most cars
So there about evens on speed and power m8

yep you find if your not driving the Turbo hard when you put your foot down and as the revs rise and the boost starts to come in you can lift your foot off accelerator and still keep accelerating at the same speed until you nail it and then whoooooo hoooooooo

ive got between 175-195bhp in my rst and my m8 has a striped out nova wiv only 2 seats so its light its a 2.0 16v red top chipped and cant even touch me in a straight line in my car so not really much 2 compare there is they. lol
but in my mind every one has there own opinions on cars so happy motoring

I know this is blasphemy, but I'd keep the nova if its a nice straight one, RS's are just money pits

with daz on this one. My 210 hp did shit loads of miles over 3yrs and gave me NO trouble. Got a 300hp+ one on the way, and im determined thats going to be the same. Attention to detail.
wow thats suprising, im not being arogant in the slightest wen i say this but i realy woudont have though that many mildly tuned ERST's would have been able to keep up! VTs's, GTturbos, seat leon Cupra R's Audi TT's etc... dont stand a chance against the nova!, carnt wait to drive the RS now!!

A 2.0 Nova will fly, in a straight line. As you say they need work to make them handle because of the weight of the engine over the front.
Being an RST owner I can say you will love it. Standard RST would get creamed in a straight line by the 2.0l Nova. The XE punts out approx 150bhp and weighs about as much as damp jay cloth. The RST punts out 130bhp and is a bit
heavier. The thing with the RST is that it's a piece of piss to tweek for more power. 180bhp will be enough to give you a quick car and not break the bank balance. I can happily confirm that 250bhp is achieveable with some thought and cash and is enough to see off most things
Nice to have a Nova owner who's done the job properly that isn't the stereotype lad with a Nova 1.3 with a K&N and BB4 claiming silly times
Whatever you decide to do best of luck to you

Iv'e driven my bros, and have to say its very quick, we're rebuilding another engine at the mo with a cos-cast head and throttle bodies. I would have to say that everytime i've been out with him in it we've never lost a race! (He has, but i wasn't with him) We've seen off RST's, CTR's and even a couple of scoobs. But i manage to pull away from him in 3rd + 4th but i think you'll need over 200bhp to get away from a decently modded 16v Nova.
You look at most Nova 16v at the POD they get much better times on average than RST's do!

yea the LEt's are a nightmare unless u got a LSD, ace suspension etc.... all about the money involved, once rolling on the motorway LETS are pretty much unbeatable though, mate had a race with a Evo fq330 an they were neck an neck all the way to 150mph wen they both backed off.... bit to scary in a nova, ive seen 145 on the digi dash, probly not quite that though! an wont be doin it again.....
