Default increasing the fuel on s2 erst ?

Hi,

Always wondered this..............when increasing the fuel on a s2 erst is the thing that you turn actually on the metering head or on the pressure actuator (little black box) ?

cheers, Duncan

If you mean the co then it's on the metering head.

I mean when you increase the fuel over the entire rev range, not the idle which I think you mean. I believe you have to take the electro magnetic pressure actuator off (little black box) but I'm not sure if the 'adjuster' screw is actually underneath this on the metering head itself or on the actuator box ? anyone know for definate ?

Anyone that messes about with the fuelling without the ability to check it properly is asking for trouble IMO.

Gamble with as much as you can afford to lose.

Pay someone to do it properly.

dont worry I'm not going to fiddle with it, its just my tuner said my car is massively overfueling so I've got to go back to have him turn it down and I was curious as to how its done.

............also, are there any seals that will need replacing once he has taken the empa off ?

cheers, Duncan

Ive had to have my Pressure actuator off, cos its damn leaking, theres 2 green o-rings in there, mine are not perished or anything, but i think they must have shrunk. But yeah the screw in here ups the fueling, but id have id done on machine.

Ford do have em as i bought 20 about 3months ago

What you have done no doubt is distort the alloy housing of teh metering head by screwing the thing too tight... about 8lbft is enough due to teh o-rings. If youve distorted the metering head then youve fooked it, to be blunt....

Do you folks have any idea of the implications of turning that screw too much BTW?

I take it you mean the screw that alters the fueling, yes ? dont worry, I leave that sort of thing to my tuner, I only fiddle with things what I understand. Anything difficult and you wont see me anywhere near it

Well, my car is standard, and the pressure actuator has never been off.
I haven't screwed it back on yet as i am waiting to get the new bits.
As for adjusting the screw, unless i had proper equipment, i wouldn't
touch it.

Dav2, yeah ford told me id have to buy the whole thing, which is Ł154 quid but the unit is working, just the seals.

never touched the screw itself but i did take the pressure actutor off as this was leaking fuel or what i thought was leaking fuel took it off and checked the Orings as was told these can perish.maybe i have damaged the metering head but i have just bought another with new pressure actuator so hopefully this may solve problem
stu you dont have the part number for these O rings do you.as the twat at ford just said you could only get them id i bought the actuator thing

yeah there special ones that don't perish with the fuel like normal rubber, but being pressed in for so long they lose their seal against the Actuator Face.

As std they can be black or green depending on age of car. All the replacements are green.

I may possibly be able to get the part number when im back at work for you

I learn something every day i guess, ive never seen an untouched pressure actuator leak before, only ones that show evidence of prior removal, so i stand corrected, please accept my appologies

well, what ive done, is changed mine, for good allen key bolts, as the Screws are soft as shite.
Nine times out of ten, if the boost has been upped on an ERST, the fueling as been altered too, so they have been off.

Presumably you push the EMFPR actuator plate so far that it permanently distorts its spring to some extent??. Surely the off boost fuelling becomes mega (unuseably) rich before you would reach that point tho?? - i always assumed this was what limited the useful adjustment you can make to this.
