Default zetec top end knocking

Just rebuilt my 1.8 zetec and ever since ive restarted it ive been getting a top end knock, sounds to me to be lifters

ive been told by some1 that this shud dissapear after the first oil change, but i dont wanna damage anything during the first 500 miles

im using 10/40 oil atm as i was advised to use non synthetic oil to allow the rings to bed in the bores, cud this be a cause? too thick an oil for the lifters to work correctly????

cheers for any help ppl, much appreciated

should dissapere depending weather you mixed up the lifters or not if you did you will never get it quite again as they will be worn to where they came from

mind you rover 75's n k series rover engines need to be revved and then left to tickover - takes them over an hour to an hour and a half to stop ticking......

maybe its cos we need to run the revs up at around 2.5k for 30 mins or more

altho im sure we have done that...

as for the running problems - i agree things dont run that good after they have been apart....but then we are using an old set of injectors that we dont know the history of....

I take it you have decent oil pressure?? Did you soak the lifters in oil for a few hours before fitting them?
