A stretched cable is not going to cause slipping, quite the opposite, if stretched enough it will cause drag, think Ford still do them, 3 door same as 2wd sapphy, Ł30 isn't bad anyway, stop being a tight wad!!

So that wouldnt cause the slip then

My pedal is as high as it will go

And melted on the turbo

Now the clutch slips but only every now and then

mainly when its wamed up

The slipping is most likely caused by either a worn out/weak diaphragm, or very worn friction plate, worst is it may have oil on it if the rear crank seal is leaking.
The cables are a doddle to do around 15 minutes, put box end on first, then just lift pedal, this will cause the ratchet to open, then with thumb push ratchet foprward enough to slip cable end in, release pedal push a few times job done.

- my Mk2 RS2000s used to do the same - they'd snap as you get a tight spot on the cable. Usually caused by the lubricant/cable sleeve getting fried by where it passed close to the exhaust manifold/heat source.

Not had it so far on my Sierra so have a look at how it's routed on a concours one next time you see one at a show just to make sure you're not missing a clip or something. Or as you say, get some of the Agriemach sleeve or a heat shield

I recently changed my clutch cable, as my old one had a kink in it. One day the pedal just went to the floor, and I discovered the kink and changed the cable. Since putting in the new cable, my clutch has never felt the same. So having friends trying to adjust it for me, I just knew it felt different. So I decided to take it to my mechanic, and let him have a shot at adjusting it. He told me that there was little he could do, and that there was no more adjustment to be had, he felt that there was something internally wrong with the clutch assembly itself. My question is, could it have been the clutch itself that caused the old cable to kink? The reason I ask, is that I never experienced any clutch trouble at all prior the old cable kinking.

I did a hydraulic on my dads 4i, cost less than Ł100 but this one had a master cylinder(not reservoir)mount welded to the pedal box, then reservoir mounted on bulkhead under bonnet.
As said there is no comparison, and I find exactly as above person, it feels more like a heavy throttle pedal than a clutch!!

nah not at all

like i said i used the easy option for the slave cylinder, pedal probally would have been even lighter if i used the hydraulic thrust bearing type ...

A strethed cable did not cause the slipping, the fact was it was sticking on and not fully returning to rest caused the slipping.
