Bought another tropical fish, want a bigger tank ... [GOT TANK]
The fish I bought grows to 30cm long, also want a shark, so now I'm looking at upgrading my tank yet still use my existing external filter.
Current tank is 3ft and about 110L, my pump is good for 120-250L, so I want to go for a 5ft tank (60x15x18) which is 228L.
Anyone know anyone selling one or can point me in the right direction to looking for one?
Found this unit which would be ideal.
Any help appreciated!

bad will eat everything especially a shark oscars are cichlids from south america and get on with nothing else new tank size will be ok but theyre messy feeders so need a much bigger filter
I have this one 60" x 24" x 24" but not in this colour

bought it ages ago from http://www.ndaquatics.co.uk
just checked their current catalogue price and its Ł446 with the cabinet or Ł216 tank only
They do a variety of sizes, worth checking their site. If i were to buy another one i'd like the 30" tall tank instead of the 24".

Bought my tank

Big enough?
It weighs an ABSOLUTE ton, I'd say the glass is over a cm thick all round.
Now at the moment I have a 3ft tank, fully established for well over a year, water perameters perfect.
In my ultimate wisdom, I wrongly calculated that my current filter (Tetratec EX700) would be able to cope with this tank (max 250L), but now I found out my tank is about 330L. LOL.
So, I've already bought a Tetratec EX1200 (500L maximum).
What is the best proven way to transfer the beneficial bacteria from my EX700 to the EX1200? Are they the same size with the trays only a bit taller? Or are the trays inside different sizes? Anyone know?
Can I just take the carbon, sponges and other stuff and put in straight in the new filter?
Any help on this appreciated!
Oh and this came with a 1ft well made base, so I am just going to make this a few feet taller.

Hi Maria,
Yeh Ive been asking about on fishforums.net, and they have said its possible to "clone" the media. This coupled with using as much water as possible out of the other tank and daily monitoring for a few weeks with extra water changes as necessary and NOT getting any more fish til its all sorted again should give the best results.
Then I can get the whales

Mate, it must weigh over 150kg and had to carry it from the front of drive to the back garden there.
I want to put it on the floor now and fill it with water to check for leaks and clean it up. I asked my partner to lift it to the floor, and she couldnt even lift her end off the table.
It will be about 0.5ton when filled with water

If it were my tank, i'd use all of the old tank water (110litres) in the new tank along with 110litres of fresh water, and run both filters as its always a good thing to overfilter your water.
Then instead of weekly/fortnightly water changes like you would usually do, i'd add more water until the tank is eventually full. Then you could alternate filter cleans, do one every 2 weeks, soeach filter is being cleaned every 4 weeks, the tank should be very stable if its ran like that imo.

Just seen your post about wanting a fish tank in the wall. My parents have this could see from the lounge or the kitchen roughly 1.5 foot depth 8 foot wide and 4 foot tall.
Just waiting for my little brother to get home and send me pics.

I clean my filter about every 2-3 months at present, never had any issues since starting the tank. I do weekly 20%'ers tho.
I'm going to be running 2x150W heaters one each side the tank, but I didnt particularly want to run 2 filters. Thats the reason I bought the ex1200 (good for 500L tanks), so surely this is overfiltering by quite a bit on its own. Was going to keep the EX700 purely for a backup should the 1200 fail..
Thanks for the advice!!
