Hi all,

Got a standard setup apart from a 1mm spacer plate on the head and I am looking into getting a chipped ECU and uprated Turbo for my RS. All I know about the Turbo at the minute is it is the housing off a Sierra Cosworth.

What boost can I run without blowing my car up once I have fitted these to it?

i think with a standard intercooler about 14psi is your limit

 

yeah around 15psi absolute max, and on warm days you wouldnt wanna be full boosting at that!
im runnin 13 on std intercooler that should be fine all year, altho obviously keep an eye on it

 

12 psi is all u can run on a standard chip,u will need a chip if u want to run it over 12psi,i'd also look into the bigger intercooler if i was running any more than 12psi.blown 2 engines before

 

where did you get 12psi from?

i could only ever run my (non chipped) turbo at 10psi! and in winter it used to over boost and cut out! you must have been a lucky one to run 12psi without a chip!

boost limit on standard S2 chip varies from car to car doesnt it? or so it appears from the amount of people telling me various different figures!!
