I have an Advent 4211 which I love to bits. The only downsides are battery life and no internal cd/dvd drive. I have since bought an external cd drive off ebay for about Ł15 and there is a battery upgrade available for about Ł50 which I'm not to fussed about because mine's attached to the mains most of the time.
ive got the daddy of them all, the machine which started off the market, The asus eeec pc, great little product still getting rave reviews and still the best imho
Get it with Linux on it as this was rewritten for it and makes it usable rather than Windows XP which is a bitch to see as everything is far to small.
this is a screen shot of the linux desktop

as long as you accept the limitations of them and realise that are not for writing books or gaming then they are great tech

got an eee 901 myself, best of the lot IMO, as it has a mega battery life, thats important for me, makes for 2films on a 4hr flight, get about 6hrs play back of video,.
bought the linux one as the same price as the XP model, but you get more storage memory, 16gb, tried linux for 2 weeks but did my head in
just couldn't get on with basic / advance modes and all the text boxes, so intalled XP pro sp3 and its all good.
added 2gb ram, and a 16gb SDHC card, plenty of space, nice high res 8.9"
ohh and out of the 8.9" screens netbooks the 901s the smallest another Win

Can you honestly say that XP is suitable for the screen

You can barely see the start bar.

Although I am a massive linux fan, it works so well on the eeec pc and the device was developed with this in mind. If you are remembering the limitations of the device and using it as a netbook you would be silly not to use an OS which is less suspect able to viruses imho.
The keyboard is to small to write books on and the processor is not powerful enough to run games, why would you want to use this limited power to run antivirus, antispyware, and other crap is beyond me
Windows has absolutely no advantage at all on this platform and suffers from consuming more of the already limited power, and more of the limited drive capacity. You can not compare it to an Operating System which was configured specifically to overcome the limitations of such a small screen size.

put XP on it, and ive not looked back! was going to have it dual bootable, to try and work with linux, may still do in the future, but XP does the job.
Oh and as for games theres a fair few running quake 3, not the latest but nice to have stuff like this on it.
Myself i have a good selection of Mame classic stuff.
