can anyone help, the hard drive has gone in the netbook so ive got a new on and even bought the same model and number hard drive its 160gig, im trying to put windows xp on but cant get the sata drivers to load, im sure there the correct ones.

so i go in the bios and boot from cd, xp boots up loads everything and then you press ..s.. i put usb stick in and load drivers and it says there not the right ones,, im just going to try and take them out of the folder first.. any help

just to say i do have another option, my mate has the same notebook and i could clone it, im just thinking if i cloned it the wrong way around i wud end up with 2 notbooks not working

 

xp doesnt have sata drivers on the installation disc. do a search in making a sata xp installation disc. its dead easy using a free program called nlite.

 

just re read your first post.... try using the sats drivers you have and making an xp/sata installation disc as i said before. XP wont recognise the usb stick, hence the error
