all this talk of small light track cars...
has got me thinking.
i know a popular option is an XE nova, but does anyone know if the xe2.5v6 will fit in one of those?
it's not too sad in the chavalier runaround i've got so i reckon it'd be a bit lively in something light like a nova/corsa

Will fit but will be very front heavy Mark, i looked into this when i had a v6 Vectra. And they are a complete c*** to work on in the vectra (very little space) so it would be alot worse in a nova / corsa.
BTW - dunno if he mentioned but i keep meaning to get back to you about the flat fella. sorry. saw your message but just haven't got around to replying yet!
how's tricks anyway?
I remember that 1 Fiddy good few years ago that wasnt it around the same time my mate andy had the turbo saloon, the v6 does fit in the nova/corsa but is heavier than the xe and you sacrifice alot of handling for 20bhp more, 20bhp that is easy enough to get out of the xe.

cant seem them being too clever tbh far too frond end heavy. We had an xe nova on track at croft back in june and i was bitterly dissapointed with its performance and handling tbh. the Ibiza was a far better car ( although 10x more expensive

The lads name was nigel who had it ginge, was from round bishop auckland way, he had an xe in it before the V6 iirc, or maybe it was the other way round, V6 then xe.
XE20 nova's are a little on the heavy side, so a v6 would be too heavy... i quite like the nova sport version, 1.3 on twin 40's from the dealer! the mrs has one, but a stage car, for sale at the mo...
lots of opinions on this thread
but not alot of fact

the difference between a xe and a v6 is around 25kgs and imho i doubt anyone could tell the difference especialy as some of the v6 is actually further back in the engine bay than a xe. so only 1/2 that 25 is in front of where it would be on a xe
and they both use the F20 gearbox so there is no difference there.
also the difference between a xe and a v6 is only 20bhp but this is not really true of a mildly uprated v6 as they will do 200bhp very easly.
they are a bit of a slugish engine, but nothing that a lightweight flywheel wont change (standard v6 one is a scary 15kgs) and you can replace it with a 6kgs iirc xe flat type.
they only handle like shit when you get idiots putting a xe or v6 in on 1.2 lowering springs, get some real suspension on there designed for a 2lt and there awesome cars.
jonny bravo done a 8:55 iirc around the ring with a totally standard xe in a nova.

Plus assuming the Nova was a budget based car probably had a compromised suspension set up etc.
BTT - If you cant get to grips with a XE'd Powered Nova i.e. for the weight issues why not go for a baby XE i.e. 1600?
He hasn't mentioned about the flat, let me know either way as i'll be going soon whatever happens

Not strictly true. The 40s came as a kit in the boot and was optionally fitted by the stealers.
Any more speck or deatails of the said car forsale.
BTW Sports are fun quick cars but probably not quick enough for the users on here - they need to be in the right hands

IMO the v6 will not be as agile as a nova with an c20xe fitted, when you see the engine bay on a v6 nova, there is alot more overhang past the center line of the wheels. Also sure its been proven a fair few times, that a stock c20xe'd nova is faster than the v6 equivelent down the 1/4er mile.
