Ill give you some clues:-
It won touring car in 1990
Car of the year 1985
It was the first vauxhall to ever have the best engine ever put in a hot hatch.
Its better and quicker then RSTs
And the rear arches rot out on them ( very bad )
Have you guessed yet?

Cavalier did not win car of the year 1985 nor did it win touring car 1990. And between those years they never had a decent engine put in them and they are in no way better then a RST. But the arches did rot out on them.
1 out of 4 right.
Keep guessing

Is that the ST170/Mini Cooper-S gearbox he going to use?
If so will it take the power?
The box is a calibra 6 speed item and in standard form is designed to accept 280 lbft hence the part number of box, F-28 box. This one has a Quaife ATB to control the power
JE pistons are custom made in USA. We had them ones made to our spec, then machined them some more. I'll find a picture. They are

Whats he doing to the rest of the bottom end? I've heard of a few high boost LETs spitting their standard conrods out the side of the block..
Also, what management has he decided to use?
Cheers.

The bottom end is not LET it is a converted XE so we will see what happens!!! The engine has been put together by one of my dear friends who is a Engine building GOD. He usually does n't touch cars, because of health problems (can't lift blocks), and usually his work is commissioned by HONDA motorbike racing division. Basically he can build a good engine and the crank and rods were peened but std. ARP cossy bolts hold the rods in place
so hopefully they will not be exitting through the sidewall of the block....but hey sh1t happens sometimes
Management is std but using a wallace phase III chip (EDS).
Sounds like you got the right guy doing the build then!!!
By Omegas I was referring to Omega pistons : http://www.omegapistons.com/
