Default How to get the " wet look "?

Wanting to give the Ibiza a bit of buftying and really after achieving the wet look with it, been looking at the poorboys stuff as it seems very reasonably priced, and heard good things about it.

Which products essentially would i need as a starter? I generally use meguiars clay and then the Gold Class shampoo and conditioner, followed by the gold class liquid wax? Or is there a good meguiars product i could use on top of the 2 ive just listed above?

I just want to create a bit of depth and get rid of any swirl marks, not had chance to look at the bodywork yet, but want something doing for national day so it has the " wet look"

any help gratefully appreciated

I'm no expert mate but my guess is you'd need something like this: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/ch.../prod_337.html

After a good polishing session mind you...

What colour car?
Claying is a big help.
A gloss enhancing polish.
Then say Victoria Concours wax, good value for money.

How about these ???

The ST and the M3 are past cars The two Audis are current cars

The illusive wet look is achieved at the polishing stage and also at the glazing stage No expensive wax can work if the polishing and preperation is not spot on !!

First You have to wash and Clay the paintwork Then Polish with a rotary A Makita or a Milwaukee is what I use along with Menzerna polishes af varying grades Once polished I apply a glaze Megs Number 7 is very good and adds to the wet look ! Then its a case of a decent wax I usualy use Victoria Concours cos its not expensive Gives a brilliant finish and lasts well !!!

Works well on the bikes to !!

jst get it washed down the local car wash and use a turtlewax detailing product from halfords called 'ice'. its the bollox, use a sort of bed linnen type material to stop any stray bits of dust and you're away, use one to apply and another to buff
(nt that it should need it). hope this helps!!

You cant get rid of swirl marks by hand, needs to be machine polished with either a rotary or something like a G220/UDM

the only other thing you can do, it temp hide the swirls with a polish that contains fillers such as Autoglym Super Resin Polish, then give a coat of a decent way such as collinites, dodo juice etc etc

do you not think G3 is a bit harsh m8?? surely G10 alone would hae been sufficient????

yer its come up nice,I just think the G10 alone would have done the same job, saving you alot of time.
G3 is very very abrasive, and I would say really its only use is for flatting new paintwork, G10 is more than sufficient for paint renovation. (the less paint you remove the better)
Alternatively there are better products on the market such as megs, 3M, menzerna (although you sometimes find menzerna is a bit of a pain in cold weather)

What rotary hae you got?? what pads are you using??

Yeah i do agree with you about just using g10, as you say layers of paint will come off with g3.
I used gmop compound heads and polishing heads, i got them from dingbro through a mate who woks there.
And the rotary was a 6 speed makita.
