Default the fiesta RST is legal! but something doesnt feel right?

after 3 years i have finally got the fiesta rs turbo back on the road, its completely standard, but something just doesnt feel right, it feels as if the boost comes in at a higher rpm and i remember it feeling a lot lower, just doesnt feel like it has the kick and pickup speed it used to have?

the t2 turbo is a new unit along with the actuator. i have a focus tdci with bluefin and that feels as if it picks up better.

deisels have more torque so will feel quicker i would think compared to a fiesta

see what boost its holding and when its on boost will help answer,, you might have the cam timing out by 1 tooth which will make it feel slower low down

certanly does feel slower lower down than what it used to be, but higer rev range it kicks in good, 3.5rpm upwards (i have changed the water pump), oh yes dont get me wrong put my foot down in 4th in the diesel and your off!!!!!!

havent got a boost guage, what is a top one to get ginge that gives a accurate reading?

most are gonna be fine to give you a idea when your comming on boost, nomad or SW are fine

Apexi are very good gauges and they read more than 30psi too

so to find out a holding boost what do i do? keep it pinned to the floor in 2nd? sorry but im not into these fancy guages mate! i know how to connect it all up though

Sounds to me like uve either got the worng actuator or spring in it. If its a serviceable type (ie allen bolts to unscrew it) then it could be the wrong strength spring if its not( ie sealed garret item) then this is prob not the problem.

Have you set the actuator up correctly? You must have a boost gauge its the most important tool when having a turbo car.

If all this is done then you may have the timing slightly out. If it is, you will probably need to set the boost again after timing the car up.

I would persoanly go for a Autometer Boost gauge. Give Ian @ Racetek a call: 07721 078371

theold unit i had was on the car from new, but this is a turbo technics recon unit, the actuator has a 8mm nut to adjust the rod.

it should be boosting alot earlier that 3500rpm, the t2's brilliant low down and make for a quick road car, i would expect to see it on full chat at 2500rpm

as you havent got a boost gauge its difficult to guess what psi its running

i suspect it isnt timed up correctly

as said above the t2 would be on boost pretty much straight away...i have recently had a cam timing problem and the car run ok but flat and not responsive....id double check it...

right, going to buy a boost guage tomorrow to see what its running, had a play with the car today and its boosting at 3500rpm much higher than it used to be a few years back, so something is wrong. heres a few pictures of the actuator, isnt wound out at all by the looks of things, im also booking it in for a set up soon as well to see its running perfect.

excuse the white stuff, i spilt anti freeze everywhere!
